Daily Announcements 10/25/2021

The FFA horse judging team of Kristin Northcutt and Krystal Richman competed at the National Contest this week at the American Quarter Horse Congress in Columbus Ohio. The team qualified at the state competition last May and placed 14th at the national competition. Kristin placed 11th in the performance horse category. Great Job Horse Judgers!

All FFA members interested in crops judging, there will be a callout meeting today, Monday Oct. 25th at 10:50 in room 150.

Class of 2026 – All Wick’s Pie fundraiser forms and money are due to Mrs. Willmann (room 141) by 3 p.m. on Wednesday, October 27. Please put the money and fundraiser form in an envelope with your name on it.

The Class of 2025 will continue taking orders for spirit wear through Wednesday. Order forms are available in the office.

Junior high boys basketball tryouts will be Monday, Oct. 25th thru Wednesday, Oct. 27th from 6-8pm.

We will have a hat day on Tuesday of this week to raise money for Secret Families of Randolph County. $1.00 minimum donation is requested.

There will be a call-out meeting for all students in Grades 7-12 interested in an extracurricular choir program this year during LITE period today beginning at 10:50 a.m. The meeting will take place in the Millennium Room across from Mr. Lewis’s classroom. If you are unable to attend the meeting, but have interest in joining choir, please message Mr. Retherford in Schoology.

Senior yard sign order forms are available in the office. Order forms are due back to the office by Friday, October 29.

It’s SOCKtober! The Anchor Club is collecting new socks, hats, and gloves for the Journey Home in Winchester. Please bring donations to the tote in the front office!

The Class of 2023 will be hosting a “Howl-O-Ween” Pet Parade on Saturday, October 30th. Registration will begin at 12:30pm at the shelter building (next to the ballpark) in Parker City. Parade will begin at 1:00pm.

Reminder: Class of 2023: Please bring in donations of dog treats & Halloween candy to Mrs. Landis or to Mrs. Thompson by Oct. 25th. We will be filling treat bags for both pet owners and their pets. We will also need volunteers for judging & the parade. Please message Mrs. Landis if you will be available to help with this event. Thank you.

The Parker City Volunteer Fire Department will host the Parker City Fall Festival this Saturday, October 30th. They will serve free chili, hot dogs, and desserts from 1-6 p.m., will have games and face painting from 2-5 p.m., hay rides from 8-10 p.m. after trick or treating, a bon-fire from 8-11 p.m. and will show a family friendly Halloween movie from 9-10:30 p.m.

The Monroe Central Scholarship Fund will be hosting the Sadie Hawkins / Halloween Dance October 30th. Couples or Friends partner up in a themed couple costume or matching outfit. The best most creative couple costume will win a prize! So, start planning your costumes now. Crabtree Photography will also be available for pictures. Order forms are available in the front office.

Purdue Polytechnic Anderson’s annual Black And Gold Day will be November 12th. This event is limited to juniors and seniors only that would have an interest in Engineering Technology, Information Technology or Aviation Technology programs. For more information on being recommended for this opportunity, see Mrs. Swift or Mrs. Moran in Student Services.

High School National Honor Society is hosting a blood drive on Friday, November 12th. You can sign up in Student Services. If you are 16 years old, you will need to pick up a parental consent form in Student Services. If you are 17 years old or older, you can sign up without parental consent.

The boys’ and girls’ cross-country teams competed at Regionals at the Muncie Sportsplex on Saturday, October 16th. The boys’ finished 3rd advancing to this past Saturday’s Semi-State. Leading the Bears was Miller placing 10th, Burris 16th, Chamberlain 25th, Shumaker 28th, and Landis 40th. The girls’ team finished in a close 6th place. Coe led the way placing 16th. Also running well for the girls was Osborne 41st, K. Puckett 51st, Gaddis 55th, and Baker 64th. A huge congratulations goes to Addison Coe for qualifying for the Semi-State!

The Golden Bear Football Team won at MEC rival Wes-Del (52-7), in the first round of the sectional. The team was led in the special teams effort by “Kicking Bear…aka Gentle Thunder” Elijah Taylor. Not only did he kick 7 consecutive Point After Attempts but he set a school record with a 42 yard field goal. Way to go Elijah. The Bear’s play at rival South Adams this week.
