The boys and girls county basketball tournament starts tonight. Today is the last day to buy presale full session tickets for $10. Full session tickets can be purchased in the office until 3pm today. Tickets at the door will be $6 each night.
On Saturday 2/12/22, Monroe Central will be hosting the 6th Annual IPMG/Special Olympics basketball invitational from 9AM to 4PM. Volunteers are needed for the following: referees, table captains, scorekeepers, runners, clean up and so much more so if you’re interested in volunteering, please see Mrs. Wines in room 144 for more details. Any help is appreciated!
There will be a call-out meeting for all those interested in “Beauty and the Beast”, on Wednesday, January 12th at 3:30pm in the Cafeteria. Snacks will be provided, so bring a friend and find out how you can get involved this semester! Please email Ms. Miner with any questions!
Any student interested in joining Chess Club, there will be a callout meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 11th during LITE Period. We will meet in Mr. Ferguson’s room at 11:00.
The Purdue University Women in Engineering Program is sponsoring an Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day, Saturday, Feb.26th. This is a free event designed to increase interest in engineering among 9th and 10th grade students. It will be held at Purdue University in West Lafayette. Please see Mrs. Swift in Student Services for more information.
Seniors: Please check out the Senior Schoology Group for more information on the Community Foundation Scholarship process. The deadline is this Friday, January 7th. This is a huge opportunity to apply for local scholarships in the community. Please see Mrs. Swift or Mrs. Moran in Student Services with any questions.
Senior shirts will be available for pick up Friday, January 7th before school, Tuesday, January 11th after school & in the evenings the week of homecoming while working on decorations. The cost is $10.00 & if you write a check make it payable to MCHS.
Attention Students – Please check your first semester grades in PowerSchool. If you have any incompletes, then you have until this Friday to take care of this issue. If you missed any final exams, you will be able to make those up during the following times and places this week:
Wednesday, January 5 – LITE Period – Report to the Millennium Room
Thursday, January 6 – 3:15-5:15 p.m. – Report to the library
Friday, January 7 – LITE Period – Report to the Millennium Room
Anything not completed by the end of LITE Period on Friday will revert to zeros in the gradebook and final grades will be recalculated. It is each student’s responsibility to take care of this!
Attention Seniors – Please check the Class of 2022 Schoology page for information regarding the Senior Trip scheduled for April 19-22 to Disney World in Orlando. The first 31 students to place their deposit of $150 for the trip by no later than Friday, January 14th will go. The total cost of the trip is $1050.
The Farmland Friends Church is hosting another Red Cross Blood Drive on January 11, 2022 from 2-7 p.m. in the Farmland Friends Church Gym. The need for blood and blood products is critical right now. Please consider donating on the 11th if you are 16 years old or older. If under 17, parental consent is required.
7th and 8th grade girls basketball game results last night against Tri:
7th grade: The 7th girls basketball team had a tough loss losing 20-17 in overtime. It was a hard fought game all the way to the last seconds. The team kept their composure and faced adversity all through the game.
8th grade: The Lady Bears fell to the Tri Titans 40-19. The team had some good shots early on in the game, but couldn’t get them to fall towards the end. They battled and never gave up. Our next game is Monday January 10th at home against Wes-Del to kick off the MEC tournament.
