The Annual Molecular Medicine In Action program will be held on March 5-6, 2023. The program is FREE of charge, sponsored by Lilly Endowment and conducted by Indiana University School of Medicine faculty. The goal of the symposium is to increase students’ excitement for science, increase the number of students that ultimately select science as a career choice, and provide hands-on learning in a state-of-the art medical research environment. Nominations for sophomore, junior and/or senior high school students to participate in the program will be accepted until November 11, 2022. Please see Mrs. Swift in Student Services for more information.
School pictures will be on August 25th. Seniors – please make sure you wear something nice as this will be the picture that goes on the senior composite.
There will be a student tailgate party tonight beginning at 6:00 p.m. before the home football game against Winchester, sponsored by Bob’s Welding & Repair, Aire Serv Heating & Air Conditioning, and the Monroe Central Alumni Association. Hot dogs, chips and water will be provided to all Monroe Central Jr.-Sr. High students who attend. Students are encouraged to bring yard games. We will also have a dance at the high school after the football game is over until 11:30pm. Cost of the dance is $3 per person. Snacks will be provided.
AM MACC and Career Explorer Students: Students returning from an AM MACC or career exploration work based learning program are required to be at school at the start of LITE period beginning at 11:48 a.m. Students may come early for lunch if they wish. Lunch begins at 11:14 a.m.
PM MACC Students: PM MACC students are allowed to leave at the conclusion of their 4th period class. PM MACC students have been removed from LITE period and are no longer required to check in with their teacher prior to leaving. Students may stay for lunch if they wish.
PM Career Explorer Students: PM Career Explorer students are required to stay through LITE Period prior to leaving the building at 12:44 p.m.
Parking Pass Information: If you are a new driver or have a different vehicle than last year please be sure to fill out a parking information form that can be found in the office. All new drivers will be required to have a parking pass for their vehicles and these cost $5. Students must have a parking pass if they drive to school. No exceptions.
Attention grades 9-12: Class officer voting links are on each of the class pages in groups on schoology. Voting will take place until noon on Monday. If you have any questions, see Mrs. Van Pelt.
7th and 8th grade students, this is a reminder that we have begun fundraising for the DC trip for next year. Please remember to turn in your permission slip to the office to begin selling chocolates. Remember that you are not supposed to sell chocolates during the school day. Sales will end on September 1.
Volleyball Results from Last Night – Both JV and Varsity squads fell to Burris in a sweep for the owls. Hadley Hendrickson led the JV team with 2 kills while Liz Chamberlain, McKenna Hendey, and Sophia Bolton each add 1 kill a piece. Kaylee swift led the team with 3 digs and Karmen Summers added 2 digs. Maggie Haney led the Varsity with 2 kills also adding 2 digs. Aubrey Johnson led the varsity with 7 digs while Bri Case and Sydney Patterson each added 5 digs a piece. As a team we recorded the most digs so far this season against an outstanding Burris offense.
