The Academic Team had another great night on Wednesday here at Monroe Central. Our English and Interdisciplinary Teams each placed 3rd in the 5 way meet against Connersville, Daleville, Jay County, Knightstown, and Richmond. Elijah Taylor placed 1st in individual competition in Science and Math, Matilde Ibarra placed second in Fine Arts, and we had an outstanding performance from the entire team as they held their own against the larger schools. Our next meet is on February 14 at Jay County.
Attention all Varsity Track & Field athletes, the team shop to order apparel for the upcoming season is open through Monday February 6th. Please order all of your gear as soon as possible to ensure you get your items! You can find the links on the Varsity Track Schoology page, and Twitter.
Starting on Monday February 6, the teachers’ association will be selling beef sticks before and after school. Mrs. Van Pelt will be outside room 110 each morning selling and in her room (115) after school.
Candy Grams will be for sale during lunch in the cafeteria starting Monday, Feb. 6th through Friday, Feb. 10th. Cost is $2.
Sweethearts Dance will be held on February 11th from 8-11pm. All grades 7-12 are welcome, cost is $8 for a single or $15 a couple – tickets for sale at the door.
Bogie’s is hiring for the season and wants to add you to their team! Pick up an application in the office.
Attention Seniors who are participating in any clubs/sports your senior year: Senior night will be on Tuesday, February 21, between the JV and varsity boys basketball games against Union City. Please stop by the office and pick up a senior night form. Forms need to be turned in to Mrs. Murray by Friday, February 10.
The boys golf team is having a rivalry week fundraiser. Specific details are as follows:
There will be 2 buckets in the cafeteria one with a Purdue logo one with an IU logo.
The Bucket with the most money at the end of the week wins.
There will be a donation sheet next to the buckets where donors can put their names.
One doner from the winning team at the end of the week will be randomly selected to win an apparel item from their school.
Dollar Bills subtract 100 points from that school.
All coins are worth their value in points so for example 20 pennies is 20 points. 4 nickels are worth 20 points. 2 quarters are worth 50 points. 2 dimes are worth 20 points.
IU is down 300 points to Purdue.
FEMA is accepting applications for the Youth Preparedness Council, a program that brings teens together from across the nation who are interested and engaged in community preparedness. Students in grades eight through 11 are eligible to apply. Application deadline is March 6, 2023. See Mrs. Swift in Student Services for more information. (2/6)
On Saturday February 11th, from 8AM to 4PM, the Annual IPMG/Special Olympics basketball Invitational will be held at Monroe Central High School. Special Olympics is looking for volunteers in various opportunities such as being a referee, score keeping, runners, clean up, concessions, etc. If you’re interested in volunteering, all day or half day, please see Mrs. Wines in Room 144 to sign up.
