Mr. Retherford and the PBIS Team would like to commend our sophomores on their noticeable reduction of discipline referrals for November-January as compared to the September-October period. Keep up the great work Sophomores!
Senior night is tonight! Parents and students who are being recognized need to be at the high school by 6:30pm. You will meet in hall gym after the 3rd quarter of the JV game.
Congratulations to Matilde Ibarra for making Top 10 and advancing to the Poetry Out Loud State Finals. He will compete in Indianapolis on Saturday, March 4th, for a chance to be the Indiana State Poetry Out Loud winner. Best of luck, Matilde!
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the MC students who volunteered to work at the Special Olympics Basketball Tournament on Saturday, February 11th. I have obtained a list of the students who volunteered and each of those students will have a ticket put into the hopper for weekly prizes. Thank you so much – MC couldn’t host something like this without so much help.
JH Track & Field practices will begin on March 13th. They will meet in the cafeteria.
The teachers’ association is selling beef sticks before and after school. Mrs. Van Pelt will be outside room 110 each morning selling and in her room (115) after school.
The MC Jr. High wrestlers defeated Cowan 57-27 last Wednesday. On Thursday, the Grapplers traveled to Lincoln and defeated the Eagles 84-0. The Bears went on to wrestle the Connersville Spartans and fell short 30-68. As a team the bears are now 11-3. Undefeated on the night were Liam Brown, Cory Brown, Kaidan Sullivan, Caden Shockney, and Donovan Steining.
The Golden Bears traveled to Cowan Friday night and picked up a win 54-36. The Bears jumped out to a 12-8 lead after the first quarter. The Bears outscored Cowan 12-3 in the 2nd quarter to lead 22-11 at halftime. In the 3rd quarter the Bears built on to the lead and led 39-24. The Bears took care of the ball and valued each possession by only committing 6 turnovers. The Bears were led in scoring by Alden Mahaffey with 22 points and 6 rebounds. Cole Munchel added 11 points and 9 rebounds. Josiah Cleveland added 10 points. The Bears play Tuesday at home against county rival Union City for senior night. The JV Bears picked up a win Friday night as well, 61-35. The Bears outscored Cowan 18-3 in the second quarter to pull away for the win. The Bears played an all round good game. Coach Byrum said after the game this might have been the best game we have played all year. The Bears were led in scoring by Griffin Gannom with 16 points. Justus Ullom added 12 points. Jackson Konkle and Carter Wheatley both added 11 points apiece.
