Juniors and Seniors, prom 2023’s theme is “A Night on Cloud 9.” Prom Bids are on sale during A lunch until May 12th. A single ticket is $20, and a couple is $40.
The Monroe Central Amateur Radio Club will host a callout and Open House for new membership tonight from 5-7pm in Hall Gym. Bring your parent/guardian and stop by to officially sign up for the club. If you are unable to make it to the Open House, registration forms will be available in the office to take home and get signed.
The MC FFA will be hosting their April Chapter Meeting Wednesday the 26th at 5:30 pm in Mr. Reeds’ room. They will be discussing the upcoming banquet and committees to join. There will be refreshments served!
Seniors: The cookout traditionally follows your graduation rehearsal and is held under the concession stand pavilion. We will have prize giveaways for those who attend. Please go to your “Seniors 2023” Schoology group page & fill out the cookout survey by May 3rd. (Your graduation rehearsal & cookout will be Friday, June 2nd.) Thank you!
The Monroe Central Anchor Club will be collecting adult coloring books, colored pencils, crossword/word search books, etc. to donate to the Parker City nursing home. Any items you bring in can be turned in to the front office. Please consider donating!
The teachers’ association is selling beef sticks before and after school. Mrs. Van Pelt will be outside room 110 each morning selling and in her room (115) after school.
The Softball Bears lost to Tri 20-4 on Friday. Aubrey Johnson and Tessa Chesher each went 2-3 with a double each. Whitley Martin went 1-2 with a triple and a stolen base. Jayme Brannon and Kinlee Taylor each added a hit as well. The Bears play at home on Tuesday against Cowan at 5p.
On Saturday, the Bear Golfers traveled to Wabash Valley Golf Club for the South Adams Invite. The Bears finished with a team score of a 400 on a tough course. Leading the Bears were Coltan West and Bentley Thornburg firing a 91 and 93 respectively. Cohen West finished with a 105, Hayden Taylor shot a 111, and Dylan Summers shot a 117. The Bears will travel to Portland on Monday in a 3-Way match against Jay County and Winchester.
The Monroe Central Boys track team competed in the Muncie Relays Saturday, finishing as champions of class B with 118 points! This is the second time in school history the boys have won this event (2016).

The Monroe Central Girls competed at the Turtle Town Classic at Churubusco High School on Saturday. The weather and competition proved to be tough, but many great performances turned in!

MC let this one get away early as both pitchers struggled with command at times. 5 errors in the field compounded the trouble and MC had to try and battle back all game. Farmer in relief ate up innings setting up the Bears to have plenty of pitching for game 2. Zane Tinsman continued his solid bat from the leadoff spot with a 2-4 performance scoring 2 of the bears runs.

MC lost a heartbreaker. Up 1 going into the top of the 6th the Golden Bears were unable to hold the lead. They had the winning run on 3rd in the bottom half but couldn’t push him across. Adams Central took the lead in the top of the 8th and would relinquish. Carter Duncan have the Bears 4 strong innings to start the game and positioned the bears for the win. Another busy week coming up for the Bears with 4 games starting Monday at Jay County.
