This is a reminder that Friday is a Professional Development day. Students will not have school on Friday or on Monday, September 4th, for Labor Day. Enjoy the four day weekend!

MCCTA is still selling beef sticks before school and after school in the junior high and high school hallways (outside room 110) and in Mrs. Van Pelt’s room.

The Monroe Central Girls Golf Team defeated Union City and Union at Winchester Golf Club. Ariana Poe tied for low medalist with 48 (PB). Other scores for Monroe Central:

Maleigh Ervin:51
The girls once again beat their low season team score. The Randolph County Tournament will be on Thursday at Hickory Hills.

The Lady Bears volleyball teams traveled to Hagerstown to take on the Lady Tigers Tuesday, August 29th. JV lost in two. Angie Burress had two kills. Maria Oliphant had 3 aces, and Raegan Quattlebaum had 5 digs. The varsity played a tough match, but fell to the Tigers in 4. Maggie Haney had 7 kills, 2 blocks, and one ace. Aubrey Johnson had 18 assists, 14 digs, and one ace. Addi Grove and Liz Chamberlain also added an ace each. The Lady Bears next game is Thursday, August 31st at Cowan High School. JV starts at 6.

Our MC Jr High Cross Country teams had great races in a 4 way meet at Burris’ 1.86 mile course. The Boys team finished 2nd behind Yorktown. The Girls finished 1st with just 21 points in a field of 65 girls. Jed Ferguson led the boys’ team with Alexander Coe close behind. They finished in 3rd and 4th places. Devin Baker finished out the top 7 in 27th place. Alex Sides had a great race, running his best pace of the season. Brylee Tinsman was MC’s top girl, finishing 2nd. Abree Ervin was close behind in 3rd. Abby Thomas finished 6th and Brynlee Patterson came in 11th. Oaklie Davis had a good race, finishing 24th. Megan DeVoss and Charlee Morris looked strong throughout the race, finishing with great times. Haidyn Dumpert had a season best pace as well.
