Juniors and Seniors: Sign up for Ivy Tech’s “College for a Day” event! September 28th from 8am-12pm, you’ll have the opportunity to participate in classroom demonstrations, tour campus, gain information on student support services and financial aid, and speak to program chairs/faculty! Space is limited. Please sign up in Student Services by September 21st. See Mrs. Moran with any questions.
Juniors and Seniors interested in Health Careers: On October 20th from 8am-2pm, we will be taking students to participate in a special event happening on Ball State’s campus. The Club MEDIC event will give you a chance to participate in a variety of health professions exploration activities through various departments in the College of Health, including: Counseling Psychology, Kinesiology, Nursing, Nutrition and Health Science, Social Work, and Speech Pathology. In addition to career exploration, Ball State faculty and students will lead sessions on College Readiness, Paying for College, Success Skills, and Co-Curricular Activities on a college campus. Space is limited. Please sign up in student services by September 22nd. See Mrs. Moran with any questions.
The Jay County Civic Theatre will be having auditions for “A Christmas Story the Musical” on September 18th & 19th from 6-8:30pm at the Arts Place in Portland. Stop by the office if you’d like more information.
The Senior Trip will be May 5th-7th, 2024 and we will be going to Cincinnati – including a day at Kings Island and 2 nights at Great Wolf Lodge. Total cost for the trip is $300 and a $20 deposit is due to Ms. Summers by Wednesday, October 4th. If you have any questions or need additional information see Ms. Summers, Grant Rees or Addison Coe.
NextGen Leadership Academy applications are available in student services! Students interested in joining the Randolph County leadership team that will enhance your leadership skills and your network with local leaders and peers should apply. Please stop in student services for the application. Applications are due to student services by Wednesday September 27th.
The powderpuff flag football game for girls grade 9-12 will be on Tuesday, September 19 at 7:00 p.m. Students, please find between 7-15 players for your class! See Coach Veatch for questions.
Monroe Central is gauging interest for a new photography club. Any high school student who would be interested in joining is asked to send a Schoology message to Mr. Sims no later than September 19th. This opportunity is currently open to students in grades 9-12 only.
There will be a Harvest Homecoming semi-formal dance for students in grades 9-12 on Saturday, September 23rd from 7-10pm in the high school cafeteria. Tickets will be sold at the door, $15 for couples and $8 for singles. If you are bringing a student from a different school, please make sure to fill out a dance request form. Requests are due back to the school by Friday, September 22.
Anyone interested in joining the Monroe Central Radio Club: There will be a table set up during lunch on September 22nd with more information. The radio club will start meeting on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month starting in October from 5-7pm in room 106.
School Picture Retake Day is scheduled for the morning of October 5th. If you are in need of retakes or missed the original picture day, please plan to have your photo taken on this date. Any questions may be directed to Mr. Sims.
After school help will be every Tuesday and Thursday. This is for all grades and all subjects. It will be held in room 118 for the next two weeks.
MCCTA is still selling beef sticks before school and after school in the junior high and high school hallways (outside room 110) and in Mrs. Van Pelt’s room.
The varsity football Golden Bears lost at home this past Friday 28-13 to South Adams. The Bears showed toughness battling to hold the Stars scoreless in the second half. The team flourished with zero fumbles on the night! Go Bears!
The Jr High Cross Country teams faced some tough competition at the South Adams Invitational. The Boys team finished 8th out of 16 teams and the Girls were 7th out of 13 teams. Leading the MC boys was Jed Ferguson, coming in with a PR time in 6th place overall. Out of the 173 runners, Alexander Coe was 18th. Devin Baker earned a PR and was 85th overall. Alex Sides also finished well for the Bears. Abby Thomas led the Girls team with her best time ever and came in 12th place. Abree Ervin finished with a PR as well in 16th place. Brylie Tinsman finished 33rd out of 152 girls. Brynlee Patterson finished 73rd. Charlee Morris, Cheyanne Fortriede and Haidyn Dumpert all earned personal bests. Oaklie Davis, Megan DeVoss, Avery Kehoe, Makayla Daniels, all had great races as well.
The Lady Bears Golf Team ended their season at Crestview on Saturday, but what a way to end. Each girl shot their best 18 hole score and some best 9 hole score as well. We had our best team scores for both 9 and 18. Parents, Coaches, and KP are so proud of you!
