Results from the Tuesday night’s varsity wrestling match: Tri 42 over Monroe Central 42 by tiebreaker criteria F.

After falling behind by 24 points your Golden Bear grapplers won 6 straight matches by pin fall to go up 36-24. They dropped the next 3 matches to fall behind 36-42 heading to the final match of the evening which featured 190 pounder Junior Jerimiah Ullom who won by pin tying the score at 42-42. Unfortunately due to tiebreaker F giving up the most forfeits, your Golden Bear grapplers lost the dual. Tonight’s winners were staying undefeated @132 Freshman Gavyn Swoveland, 150 Senior Zac Martin and 190 Ullom, other winners this evening were @120 Lane Whitehead, 126 Raegen Quattlebaum, 138 Cory Brown, and 144 Caden Shockney.  With each time we step on to the mat we are improving, simply with hard work we are competing with more experienced programs and teams. Again great gains were made as the young team continues to improve. We are back on the mat this Saturday @ Richmond HS in the Tom Hill Invite.   Remember GOOOOO BEARS!

The Monroe Central girls varsity basketball team defeated Shenandoah, 43-24 on Tuesday night to improve their record to 7-2 on the season. The Bears only led by 5 points at Halftime, then outscored Shenandoah 25-11 in the 2nd half. Kimber Abshear tallied 13 points, 10 rebounds, 6 steals and 5 blocks on the night. Addy Puckett scored a season high 11 points, while Sydney Patterson had 9 points to go along with 3 assists and 3 steals. The Lady Bears are back in action on Thursday night when they play Yorktown @ Home for a 7pm start! Go Bears!
