The Lady Golden Bears Varsity Volleyball team traveled to Lapel on 9/30/24 for a VARSITY ONLY matchup.  Our Golden Bears got off to a slow start and fell in set 1 with a score of 9-25.  They bounced back nicely in set 2 and even had an eight point lead at one point during the set.  The Bulldogs stayed determined though and were able to end up taking set two with a score of 20-25.  Set 3 showed Lapel to still have a momentum swing and they took this set 9-25.  Junior Angie Burress was able to return from her injury tonight and had 9 receptions and 10 digs.  Junior Shyan Bennett had 1 ace, 7 kills, 20 receptions and 10 digs.  As the team starts to return to normal from injury, they will be working hard the next couple days in practice to play balls more aggressively both defensively and offensively. The Golden Bears will be back in the Bear Den on Thursday (10/3) when they host Eastbrook.  This is the Pink Out night for MC so be sure to wear your pink to this match.  JV is scheduled to start at 6 pm.

The JV football team traveled to Wes-Del Monday night and took home the victory 40-20. The team controlled the clock on offense and left the matchup with ZERO turnovers. Great job Bears!

The 8th graders head into their last home game of the season against Blackford tonight starting at 5:30pm.

The Monroe Central 7th Grade Lady Bears delivered a strong performance at home defeating the Wes-Del Warriors last night, winning in two sets, 25-13, 25-19. The win showcased the team’s depth and balance, as all 12 Lady Bears contributed to the victory. Bristol Goad led the way, racking up 5 aces and 1 kill. Mati McConnel also made a significant impact with 4 aces and 1 dig, providing key serves that put pressure on the Warriors. Gracie McCreery added to the team’s dominance with 2 kills and 1 dig. Landry Taylor added 2 assists, 1 ace and 1 dig, while Callie Grove chipped in with 1 ace.  Alyssa Chalfant and Ashtyn Baldwin each had one dig. Izzy McGrath rounded out the offense with a solid kill, helping to secure the victory.
