On 10/7/24 the Lady Golden Bears Junior Varsity and Varsity volleyball teams traveled to Randolph Southern.  The Junior Varsity squad came out strong and determined and defeated the Rebels in two sets with scores of 25-20 and 25-15.  Sophomore Zoie Hood had 6 aces, 3 kills and 1 dig alongside of Sophomore Maria Oliphant having 1 ace, 1 kill, 2 digs and 13 assists.   The Varsity squad came out and got off to a slower start dropping set one 11-25.  After some re-focusing they came back strong in set 2 and at one point had an 8 point lead.  However, the Rebels fought back and took that set 23-25.  Our Bears stayed focused in set 3 and won that one 25-18.  However, the Rebels remained focused and took set four 13-25.  Of mention tonight was Junior Addi Grove who had 6 aces, 12 kills and 4 digs.  Her mental focus is on point and should be commended.  Also to note were Junior Shyan Bennett with 1 ace, 10 kills, 21 receptions and 2 digs alongside Junior Sophia Bolton with 1 kill, 9 digs and 27 assists.

On 10/8/24 the Junior Varsity and Varsity Lady Golden Bears traveled to Daleville to faceoff with the Broncos. The JV team got off to a fairly solid start in set 1 and only dropped this set 18-25.  Unfortunately, they didn’t come out with that same intensity and set two ended with a score of 8-25. The Varsity team came out tonight and appeared to be stuck with some communication issues.  They dropped set one 8-25.  After some discussion they did make some improvements in set two and tried to be more competitive.  This set ended with a score of 13-25.  Set three once again was a struggle and several technical errors were made.  The match ended with a third set score of 10-25.  The Broncos definitely have a very strong team but errors from our Golden Bears played a big role in tonight’s scores.

On 10/10/24 the Vikings from Blue River traveled to the Bear Den to take on the Golden Bears.  The Junior Varsity team got off to a slow start and found themselves in quite the point deficit early in the game.  They did battle back making set 1 fairly competitive.  They ended up falling a bit short with a score of 19-25.  Set two was also a slower start for our lady Golden Bears but they didn’t give up.  This match ended with a set two score of 16-25. The Varsity Golden Bears came out with a new mindset on the court tonight and were determined to compete.  This was an exciting match to watch.  The Vikings presented with a strong team that was not willing to give up even on difficult shots.  Our Golden Bears kept competing the entire night but came up short in the end with scores of 23-25, 20-25 and 17-25.  The coaches were very proud of the entire team tonight and the efforts they put in playing together as true teammates.  Tonight was truly a great team effort by all players on the court.  Player of the match was awarded to Junior Addi Grove who put up some impressive stats tonight having 2 aces, 10 kills, 7 receptions and 7 digs.  She also continues to have strong mental efforts on the floor and not letting mistakes cause her to be less aggressive.  The Lady Bears regular season has come to an end.
