The 7th grade girl’s basketball team traveled to Yorktown last night and got a hard fought victory 27-16 over the Tiger. Brynlee Dumpert played outstanding all around game and led the in scoring with 7 along with Mila Morris. Claire Cheeseman added 6, Izzy McGrath 4, Ada Wagner 2 and Mati McConnell 1. The 8th Grade Lady Bears traveled to Yorktown on Wednesday evening and tamed the host Tigers in their lair, beating the big cats 32-30 in the tightly contested victory. The Bears got off to a cold start offensively, but thanks to Elena Simms hitting back-to-back jumpers MC kept it close in the opening period and only trailed by 1 at the end of the first. Tough defense kept the Bears in the game with Izzy McGrath blocking and contesting several Tiger attempts. Mila Morris led the Bears with 8 points, Lucy Huston added 7 to go with several rebounds and steals. Elena Simms added a season high 6. Izzy McGrath and Claire Cheesman added 4 and Landry Taylor added a well timed 3 pointer to go with her great defense and floor leadership. Arianna Carroll, Evangelina Arrington, Lillie Moery and Ada Wagner all played hard and contributed in the win. The Lady Bears face Lincoln on Tuesday evening in The Bear Den. GO BEARS!!!

The Golden Bears freshman basketball team got off to a slow start and stayed within striking distance being down 13 at halftime. The Golden Bears fought hard in the second half making a run in the third quarter to cut into the Tigers lead. Unfortunately the Golden Bears ran out of time falling [insert score] to the Tigers. The freshman boys played a great fundamental game and look to continue to improve throughout their season.

MC wrestling defeats Connersville 42-39. This was a tight duel that came down to the last match.  Winning by pin Lane Whitehead, Eli King, Cory Brown Jr, Kaden Sullivan, Christian Erwin winning by forfeit Grant Linville and Jerimiah Ullom.  But locking this win up was Landen Tinsman wrestling up a weight class against a semi-state qualifier he fell behind and ended up only losing by a minor decision.  Your Golden Bears are back in action Tuesday at Tri High.
