Today is a virtual learning day.

Congratulations to Andriana Johnson, Lane Dance, Casin Johnson and Sarah Swearingen for receiving the MLK Youth Citizenship award from the Muncie Area Career Center. This award is given in recognition of their positive attitude, sound leadership skills, respect of others, and willingness to contribute to their class, school and community.

The weight room will be closed after school on Wednesday, January 22nd. The weight room will be used for track workouts only.

There will be a FFA Chapter Meeting on Tuesday, January 28th. Come join us by signing the page on Mr. Weiler or Ms. Wimmer’s door for pizza and bingo.

The 2025 Winter Homecoming Dance will be after the boys JV/varsity basketball game on Friday, January 31st until 11PM. This dance is open to grades 7-12 and will cost $5 at the door. If you are bringing a guest who doesn’t go to our school we must have a signed dance request form back to the office by Wednesday, January 29th.

On Sunday February 2nd, from 10AM to 5PM, the annual IPMG/Special Olympics basketball invitational will be held at Monroe Central High School. Special Olympics is looking for volunteers in various opportunities such as being a referee, score keeping, runners, clean up, concessions, etc. If you’re interested in volunteering, all day or half day, please send Mrs. Wines a message through Schoology or see her in room 144 to sign up.

After school tutoring will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:15 to 4pm in room 115 or 118.

The weight room will be open for students after school on Monday through Thursday each week from 3:15-4:15pm. 

5 Star Driver Education is offering driver education. Stop by the office to pick up an information sheet or go to www.fivestardrivered.com

The varsity Lady Bears defeated the Muncie Central Bearcats 50-30 on Thursday night, improving their record to 14-4 on season. The Bears were led by Sydney Patterson with a game high 21 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists. Abe Ervin tallied 17 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 7 steals in the game. Monroe Central has now added a Randolph County Championship and is currently on a 5 game winning streak heading into the final stretch of their season. The Lady Bears are back in action next week with a Wednesday/Thursday game schedule.

The JV Golden Bears got out to a good start against Shenandoah last Friday and went into halftime up 16-11. The team came out in the second half kind of slow but managed to stop a run from the Raiders and force overtime. The Bears played a great overtime period and won the game 39-33. The bears were led in scoring by Maddox Taylor with 11. 

The varsity golden bears got out to a slow start last Friday against Shenandoah but picked it up in the second quarter. The Bears went into halftime tied with opposing raiders 27-27. The Bears came out hot in the second half and managed to hold off the Raiders winning 54-53. The Bears were led in scoring by Easton Foster with 17. He was followed by Beatty with 14 and Morgan with 11. 

The 7th grade girls traveled to Daleville Saturday morning to continue the MEC tournament. The opening game was against the previously unbeaten Eastern Hancock Royals. The whole team’s defensive concept led to a 36-16 victory. The Bears were led in scoring by Landry Taylor 9, Claire Cheesman 7, Izzy McGrath 6, Mati McConnell 5, Gracie McCreery and Mila Morris 4, Brynlee Dumpert 1. They then had to turn around and play a familiar foe in the Wes-Del Warriors, a team they played 2 nights earlier. The young ladies started slow playing their 5th game in 6 days but quickly got their 2nd wind steadily pulled away for a 32-14 Championship win. Scoring leaders were Mila Morris 10, Landry Taylor 8, Gracie McCreery 6, Mati McConnell 4, Brynlee Dumpert and Izzy McGrath 2. Lillie Moery, Bristol Goad and Ada Wagner didn’t score but gave great energy off the bench to help with both victories.

The 7th grade Golden Bears played a close game against Shenandoah on Monday coming away with the win in the Bear Den 25-21. Scoring for the Bears was Parker Morris 9pts, Knox Myers 8pts, Leum Butler 6pts and Ryder Slaven had 4pts.

The 8th grade Golden Bears got out to a slow start going into halftime down 24-14. The bears came out and showed some energy in the second half and played much harder but a run by the opposing raiders was too much. The Bears lost 48-39.

The 7th grade girls continued their winning ways last night at home defeating the South Adams Stars 44-6. Scoring for the night was Landry Taylor 10, Claire Cheesman 9, Gracie McCreery and Mati McConnell 6, Mila Morris 5, Izzy McGrath 4, Lillie Moery and Ada Wagner 2.
