Any high school FFA member interested in the FFA small engines CDE, a meeting will be held Wed. 1/3 (today).
Afterschool a FFA scholarship and state degree work session will be held from 3:15 – 4:30 pm.
The girls and boys County Basketball Tournament will be held at Union (Modoc) on January 3rd-6th, 2024. Presale all session tickets are being sold in the high school office from 8am-noon (today is the last day). All session tickets cost $15 and can be used all 4 nights of the tournament. Single session tickets at the door will be $7.
On Saturday January 13th, from 8AM to 4PM, the Annual IPMG/Special Olympics basketball Invitational will be held at Monroe Central High School. Special Olympics is looking for volunteers in various opportunities such as being a referee, score keeping, runners, clean up, concessions, etc. If you’re interested in volunteering, all day or half day, please see Mrs. Wines in room 144 or send a Schoology to sign up.
The MCCTA (Mrs. Van Pelt) is selling granola bars, 2 bars for $1.
The 7th grade boys lost to Shenandoah 33-26. Bears were led in scoring by Miles Gross 11, and Carter Lucies and Alex Middleton each had 5. The Bears are back in action on Monday at home vs Blackford. Go bears!
The Monroe Central 8th Grade Boys Basketball team fell to Shenandoah on Tuesday night, 45-35. After falling behind early, the Bears clawed their way back, but ultimately falling short to the Raiders. The Bears were led in scoring by Luke Morgan with 21 points. The Bears return to the hardwood on Monday vs Blackford.
The 6th and 7th grade girls basketball team improved their record to 6-1, defeating Tri Junior High 24-16. The Bears travel to Selma next week for the MEC Tournament.
The 8th grade Lady Bears moved to 7-0 on the season defeating Tri High 31-25 in a slower paced game that saw them plagued with foul trouble throughout the night.
BATTLE IN THE BEAR DEN on December 28th – the wrestling team finished 3-2 and in 5th place out of 8 teams. Wrestlers finishing 4-1 were:
Weight class champion Caden Shockney @144 as well as Zac Martin @150, Christian Erwin @165 and Jerimiah Ullom @190 in addition in Lane Whitehead finished the day 3-1 @120. It was a great day of wrestling.
Two days later the wrestler program achieved a first in school history. All four of our female wrestlers competed at the Jay County Regional and made it through to the Rochester Semi-State. 2 Regional Champs Mak Brainerd @110 and Raegan Quattlebaum @125. Maria Oliphant finished 3rd @100 and Chelsea Erwin finished 4th @155. They will compete for a chance to move on to State this Friday, January 5th. As the rest of the Golden Bear grapplers will wrestle at Centerville in the Wayne County Classic. As always GO BEARS!!!!
