Homecoming dress up days for January 17-21:
Monday – No School
Tuesday – Dress like a Teacher
Wednesday – Hollywood vs. Hippie
Thursday – Album Cover/Music Genre
Friday – Brown & Gold

Senior shirts will be available for pick up Tuesday, January 11th after school & in the evenings the week of homecoming while working on decorations. The cost is $10.00 & if you write a check make it payable to MCHS.

Any student interested in joining Chess Club, there will be a callout meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 11th during LITE Period. We will meet in Mr. Ferguson’s room at 11:00.

The Farmland Friends Church is hosting another Red Cross Blood Drive on January 11, 2022 from 2-7 p.m. in the Farmland Friends Church Gym. The need for blood and blood products is critical right now. Please consider donating on the 11th if you are 16 years old or older. If under 17, parental consent is required. People can register at RedCrossBlood.org.

This Wednesday, January 12th is the annual Poetry Out Loud school competition. Good luck to Matilde Ibarra, Hannah Coe, and Ivon Padilla as they compete for a chance to represent our school at the state finals in February. The competition is at 4:30 in the school library and is open to anyone interested in attending.

Attention All Students – The choir could use some additional voices. If this is something that interests you, please plan on showing up on Thursday night at 5:30 in the choir room to check it out. No pressure – if you end up not liking it, you don’t have to return. Try something new, you just might like it!

There will be a call-out meeting for all those interested in “Beauty and the Beast”, on Wednesday, January 12th at 3:30pm in the Cafeteria. Snacks will be provided, so bring a friend and find out how you can get involved this semester! Please email Ms. Miner with any questions!

On Saturday 2/12/22, Monroe Central will be hosting the 6th Annual IPMG/Special Olympics basketball invitational from 9AM to 4PM. Volunteers are needed for the following: referees, table captains, scorekeepers, runners, clean up and so much more so if you’re interested in volunteering, please see Mrs. Wines in room 144 for more details. Any help is appreciated!

The Purdue University Women in Engineering Program is sponsoring an Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day on Saturday, Feb. 26th. This is a free event designed to increase interest in engineering among 9th and 10th grade students. It will be held at Purdue University in West Lafayette. Please see Mrs. Swift in Student Services for more information.

8th Girls Basketball results from last night – To kick off the MEC tournament the Lady Bears were victorious against the Wes-Del Warriors winning 63-14. It was a great team effort as everyone scored. The Bears had great ball movement and outstanding help side defense. Our next game is Wednesday January 12 at Blue River Valley as part of the MEC tournament. Go Bears!
