During homecoming week there will be a Bear Necessities competition! Donations such as hair care, body care, oral care, and feminine products will be accepted. There will be boxes in the cafeteria for each class’s donations!

Homecoming dress up days for next week (January 16-19):

Tuesday – Tourist day

Wednesday – Dress like your parents day

Thursday – Dress for the ages (dress like any age)

Friday – Crazy brown and gold day

The 2024 Winter Homecoming Dance will be after the game on Friday 1/19 until 10:30PM.  This dance is open to grades 7-12 and will cost $5 at the door. If you are bringing a guest to the dance you will have to have a guest request form on file in the office for this year.

Please check the Lost and Found table in the hallway by the cafeteria. Any items that are not claimed by Friday will be donated to a local charity.

Class of 2025 will be staying after school next week on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday till 5pm.  Please message Mrs. Meranda if you will be staying.

Homecoming shirt fundraiser!  The Class of 2027 after prom is taking orders for 2024 homecoming shirts. We are taking orders until January 14 and shirts are only $12! After school tutoring will start back on Tuesday, January 23rd.

On Saturday January 13th, from 8AM to 4PM, the Annual IPMG/Special Olympics basketball Invitational will be held at Monroe Central High School. Special Olympics is looking for volunteers in various opportunities such as being a referee, score keeping, runners, clean up, concessions, etc. If you’re interested in volunteering, all day or half day, please see Mrs. Wines in room 144 or send a Schoology to sign up. 

The MCCTA (Mrs. Van Pelt) is selling granola bars, 2 bars for $1.

The Monroe Central 8th Grade Boys Basketball team defeated Blue River Valley, 50-26, in the quarterfinals of the MEC tournament. A good all around team effort and great teamwork by all guided the Bears to victory. A well rounded scoring attack led by Luke Morgan with 20, included Weston Grove with 8,Peyton Chamness with 6, and Gabe McComb and Myles Oliphant with 5. Up next for the Bears is the semifinals of the MEC tournament versus the winner of Selma/Randolph Southern at 10 AM at Blue River. 

Order on the court! The 8th grade Lady Golden Bears came out hot handed on the night on their way to victory with a final score of 54-13 against conference foe Wes-Del. Great Ball movement, excellent shooting and aggressive defense enabled the Lady Bears to put  39 first half points on the scoreboard. Three ladies reached double digits with Abe Ervin scoring 24 with 6 assists to complement her teammates, Brynlee Patterson had 11 pts and 4 steals, Charlee Morris added 10 pts, Oaklei Davis scored 6 to go with 7 rebounds and 3 steals, Brylie Tinsman scored a bucket with 3 assists, aggressive play by Haidyn Dumpert led to several Wes-Del mishaps,  Lillian Konkle came in off the bench to score her first point of the season.  Another total team effort. The Golden Bears will continue their MEC Tournament Saturday morning at Daleville at 10am.
