Daily Announcements 01/27/2025

All students in grade 9-12 can vote for Homecoming Queen and King from the court candidates here.  Voting will remain open through the end of the school day on Thursday.  Vote here.

These are the dress up days for homecoming week:

Tuesday: Dress Like Your Type Day (dress like your significant other or crush)

Wednesday: Crazy Weather Wednesday 

Thursday: Rhyme With No Reason (e.g. one person dress like a dog and one person dress like a hog)

Friday: Crazy Brown and Gold Day  ***Seniors – please wear your class shirt and class colors (pink and teal).

The Yearbook Committee is meeting on Thursday, January 30th after school until 4:30 p.m. Please plan to attend. Your pages will be assigned for fall.  

The weight room will be closed for students after school on Wednesday, January 29th. The weight room will be used for track workouts only.

There will be a presentation on the new diplomas that will impact our current 8th-grade students on Tuesday, January 28th from 6-7 PM in the HS Library. During this presentation, we will review the changes in the new diplomas, discuss what scheduling will look like for their freshman year, and answer questions about the upcoming changes. 

There will be a FFA Chapter Meeting on Tuesday, January 28th. Come join us by signing the page on Mr. Weiler or Ms. Wimmer’s door for pizza and bingo.

The 2025 Winter Homecoming Dance will be after the boys JV/varsity basketball game on Friday, January 31st until 11PM. This dance is open to grades 7-12 and will cost $5 at the door. If you are bringing a guest who doesn’t go to our school we must have a signed dance request form back to the office by Wednesday, January 29th.

There will be a Semi-Formal Sweetheart’s Dance on Saturday, February 22nd from 7p-10p. This dance is only open to grades 9-12 and will cost $10 for a single ticket or $15 for a couple’s ticket. Tickets can be purchased at the door. If you are bringing a guest who doesn’t go to our school we must have a signed dance request form back to the office by Wednesday, February 19th. 

On Sunday February 2nd, from 10AM to 5PM, the annual IPMG/Special Olympics basketball invitational will be held at Monroe Central High School. Special Olympics is looking for volunteers in various opportunities such as being a referee, score keeping, runners, clean up, concessions, etc. If you’re interested in volunteering, all day or half day, please send Mrs. Wines a message through Schoology or see her in room 144 to sign up.

5 Star Driver Education is offering driver education. Stop by the office to pick up an information sheet or go to www.fivestardrivered.com

After school tutoring will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:15 to 4pm in room 115 or 118.

The weight room will be open for students after school on Monday through Thursday each week from 3:15-4:15pm. 

The varsity bears got out to a slow start against Eastern Hanock on Friday but came alive and were able to go into half down 37-33. The bears came out and played hard in the second half but a run in the fourth quarter was too much for the bears to overcome. They lost 74-54. They were led in scoring by Easton Foster with 18, he was followed by Morgan with 16 and Ullom with 15. 

The JV bears came out very slow against Eastern Hancock and went into halftime down 29-11. The bears came out and played a great second half but the hole was too deep and they ended up losing 47-40. The bears were led in scoring by Isaac Middleton with 10. 

The varsity boys got out to a fair start Saturday night against Blackford going into halftime down 31-26. The Bears made a run and played very solid in the second half but timely plays by the Bruins caused the Bears to fall 68-63. The team was led in scoring by Easton Foster with 21. He was followed by Ullom with 18 and Gannom with 14. Foster also eclipsed 1000 career points during the game. 

The JV golden bears got out to a good start against Blackford Saturday night, going into halftime up 25-13. The bears cooled off a little bit in the second half but managed to win 37-32. The Bears were led in scoring by Peyton Chamness with 9 points.
