Juniors: The Randolph County Youth Salute nomination forms are available in Student Services. If you’ve served in a position of leadership at school, church, or community-sponsored organization, please stop by and pick up a form. All forms are due back to Student Services by March 1st. Please see Mrs. Moran with any questions.

UPDATE FOR STUDENTS GOING TO DANCES!!! From now on, dance request forms, for students who do not go to our school, will need to be approved for each dance. We will no longer accept one dance request per person for the year. Each dance, you will need to fill out a new request form and return it to the office. Forms will be due the Wednesday before the dance. 

Sophomores and Juniors: Just a reminder MACC applications CLOSE on Jan 31st. If you plan to attend the MACC next school year, you must have an application on file. Access the online application at this link: https://bit.ly/3ukebYD 

There will be a Sweetheart’s Dance on Saturday, February 10th from 7-9pm for students in grades 7-12. Cost is $8 per person or $15 per couple. Tickets will be sold at the door the night of the dance. Dance request forms for students who do not attend MC are due back by Wednesday, February 7th. 

After School Help will start again Tuesday and Thursday until 4.

The MCCTA (Mrs. Van Pelt) is selling granola bars, 2 bars for $1.

The varsity bears traveled south to arch rival Blue River Friday night and lost 68-64 in double overtime. The bears came out very sluggish in the first half.  At halftime the bears found themselves down 10. In the 4rd quarter the bears turned up the defensive and out scored blue river 12-6 to send the game to overtime. In overtime the bears took a 4 point lead with baskets by Easton Foster and Justus Ullom. Blue River made a basket to send it to a 2nd overtime with no time left on the clock. In the second overtime the teams went back and forth. But the bears ran out of gas and Blue River hit some free throws to seal the game. The bears were led in scoring by Easton Foster with 24 points. Josiah Cleveland added 14 points and Justus Ullom added 13 points.

The boys JV bears jumped out to a 10-0 lead at the end of the first quarter and never looked back to win their game against Blue River, 47-20. The bears were led in scoring by Griffin Gannom with 18 points.

Archery State Qualifier results: Top HS School Team, North Eastern 3204, 2nd Place Monroe Central 3120. Top Jr High Team, Southern Wells Team 2 with 2972, 2nd place Monroe Central 2811. Top High School Male Colton Johnson 285, 3rd place Doug Lankford 278. 2nd place Jr High Male Carson Brown 267. Top 12 all tournament team archers for Monroe  Central, Colton Johnson, Doug Lankford, Noah Moery and Dalton Wright!! The archers will be in action next on February 10th at Union City in the Randolph County Tournament!

Wrestling Sectional: Four get through to Jay County Regional! Your Golden Bears battle injury and the flu to finish 6th place, just a point out of 5th and a few points from finishing 4th.  Wrestling without 4 varsity wrestlers, your Golden Bear grapplers battled getting 8 of 9 a spot on the podium. Huge shout out to Junior Jerimiah Ullom as he was our lone sectional champion, followed by Senior Zac Martin who finished 2nd. A pair of freshmen also were able to punch their ticket through to the regional as 1st yr wrestler Christian Erwin was able to go 3-1 on the day and avenge his opening match loss to earn 3rd place, as well Cory Brown also moves on finishing 4th. Finishing 5th and as regional alternates are freshmen Lane Whitehead and Raegan Quattlebaum. Finishing in 6th were Senior Mak Brainerd and Freshman Caden Shockney. Your remaining Golden Bear Grapplers compete Saturday morning at the Jay County Regional wrestling starts at 8:30, tickets must be purchased online.  GO BEARS!!!!

The boys varsity basketball team lost to Alexandria Saturday night 70-52. The bears came out strong and held their own in the first half only being down 5 at halftime. After halftime the bears just didn’t have it. The defense just wasn’t there. The bears just ran out of gas after a very tough game the night before coach Milton said have the game. The bears were led in scoring by Easton Foster with 19. Josiah Cleveland added 11. The Bears play Wednesday at Shenandoah. 

The bears jv boys basketball team beat Alexandria 51-42 Saturday night. After the 1st quarter the bears were up by 1 but by halftime they had stretched the lead to 10 points. In the 3rd quarter the bears were outscored by 1 point. The 4th quarter was played with both teams scoring 16 points. The bears had a season high 39 total rebounds. The bears were led in scoring by Griffin Gannom and Carter Wheatley with 12 points apiece.
