The 6th and 7th Grade Lady Bears basketball team traveled to Muncie Southside on Tuesday and limped home with the victory, defeating Southside 37-0 and improving their record to 12 wins and 2 losses. The Rebels came out swinging with their full court pressure, but the Bears were able to hold off their punches by maintaining their composure and looking out for each other – leading to several fast break layups.  The Lady Bears displayed full court pressure of their own in the first quarter and were rewarded with several steals and layups as a result. Their defense was so good that it even appeared they were playing self defense on the offensive end of the court. The Bears were led in scoring by Landry “Bad Intentions” Taylor with 17, most off of fast break steals. “Iron” Mila Morris added 10. Lucy “The Real Deal” Huston contributed 8 points and “Marvelous” Izzy McGrath rounded out the scoring column with 2 of her own. All 12 girls tagged in to the match, contributed to the win and represented Monroe Central well. The Bears finish their season on Saturday, traveling to Randolph Southern for the County Championship. Go Bears!
