The Academic Team had another great night at our Conference meet against 16 other schools at Knightstown last evening. Our English team placed 2nd overall and our Fine Arts team placed third. Special shout out to students Andriana Johnson, Ava Pohl, Andi Watson, Kaden Clevenger, and Marshall Hankins who worked very hard and pulled out wins for those teams.
The state FFA welding contest was held this past Saturday Feb. 24 at Light Career Center in Indy. Juniors Elijah Cleveland and Landen Tinsman participated in the advanced division which consisted of arc and mig welding joints and configurations along with mig welding in various positions and pipe welding. They also had to complete a 50 question welding knowledge exam. They placed 2nd place overall as a team out of 48 teams! Great job guys and way to represent!
Any student interested in exploring the possibility of joining a JROTC program, there will be an informational meeting on Thursday, February 29th in Hall Gym at 12:15. We will call students down who are interested. This will be for incoming sophomores, juniors, and seniors.
Juniors: The Randolph County Youth Salute nomination forms are available in Student Services. If you’ve served in a position of leadership at school, church, or community-sponsored organization, please stop by and pick up a form. All forms are due back to Student Services by March 1st. Please see Mrs. Moran with any questions.
The Monroe Central High School Art Club is hosting a Cookies & Canvas fundraising event on Tuesday, March 5th from 5-7pm in the high school art room. Tickets are $20 and include a canvas, materials, painting lesson, and refreshments. Anyone is welcome to attend! Spots are limited. Please contact Ms. Lillian McClung via email or phone to reserve your spot.
Middle School Track Practices will begin on Monday, March 11th. We will meet in the back of the high school cafeteria after school. All athletes must have a physical on file before they can participate in practice and FinalForms completed. Please come prepared for outdoor practice every day as we will go outside whenever possible
Jerry’s is accepting applications for summer 2024. Students must be 14 yrs or older. Applications are in the office.
After School Help is available on Tuesdays and Thursdays until 4pm.
The MCCTA (Mrs. Van Pelt) is selling granola bars, 2 bars for $1.
The boys varsity basketball team defeated Randolph Southern last Friday night. Josiah Cleveland led the Bears with 12 points, Carter Duncan added 10 points, Hayden Taylor and Easton Foster both had 9 points. The varsity bears end the regular season 10-14.
The boys JV basketball team won against Randolph Southern 43-19. Carter Wheatley led the bears with 9 points, Jackson Konkle added 7 points and Isaac Middleton added 6 points. The JV bears end the season 15-6.
Monroe Central JH wrestling finished 9th out of 18 schools at the Jay county Invite on Saturday. We also had 5 individual placers!

The JH golden bear grapplers traveled to Alexandria on Monday. Alexandria was able to sweep us off our feet with a 102 to 3 Victory. Our individual winner of the night was Nic Cope ! We are back in action Wednesday for a county championship at Monroe Central!
