Daily Announcements 03/04/2024

The district 9 small engines contest was held Sat. March 2 at Union City. Teams had to assemble a 7.5 hp engine, identify engine parts and specialty tools, troubleshoot, and perform engine-related skills. Congratulations to the team of Mathew McCord and Carson Hicks who placed 4th in the middle school division. In the high school league,  the teams of Austin Schneider and Jayden Peercy, and Clay Smith and Cale Sloniker did an outstanding job, both placing in the top 15 out of 37 teams. Also a part of the program this year was Wyatt Daniels but unable to attend due to illness. Great job to everyone on your hard work!

We will have a presentation from the Jay County JROTC on Thursday, March 7th at 12:15 in Hall Gym.

Any freshmen interested in being a peer mentor next year need to pick up an application from the front office OR Dr. Warren or Mrs. Braswell. There will be an informational meeting on Friday (March 8) in Hall Gym during study hall.

On Saturday March 9th, from 8:30AM to 3PM, the Special Olympics basketball Sectionals will be held at Monroe Central High School. Special Olympics is looking for volunteers in various opportunities such as being a referee, score keeping, runners, clean up, concessions, etc. If you’re interested in volunteering, all day or half day, please send Mrs. Wines a message through Schoology or see her in room 144 to sign up.  

Seniors: Please do not forget to check the Student Services Senior Schoology Group periodically. There are many postings of scholarship opportunities, college events, apprenticeship programs, graduation requirement information and more. Do not miss out on an opportunity! Please see Mrs. Swift in Student Services with any questions.

Middle School Track Practices will begin on Monday, March 11th.  We will meet in the back of the high school cafeteria after school.  All athletes must have a physical on file before they can participate in practice and FinalForms completed.  Please come prepared for outdoor practice every day as we will go outside whenever possible

Jerry’s is accepting applications for summer 2024. Students must be 14 yrs or older. Applications are in the office.

After School Help is available on Tuesdays and Thursdays until 4pm.

The MCCTA (Mrs. Van Pelt) is selling granola bars, 2 bars for $1.

The varsity Bears beat arch rival Winchester Friday night in sectional, 65-47. The Bears were led by Easton Foster with 24 points and 7 rebounds, Justus Ullom added 19 points, and Hayden Taylor added 4 points and had 6 rebounds.

The varsity Bears were defeated by Wapahani Saturday night in the sectional championship. Great season boys!

Jr. high wrestlers finished their season on Saturday with a team 6th place finish!

The Golden Bear varsity track teams competed at Indiana Wesleyan University on Saturday. A lot of experience was gained, and many great results were recorded on the day!
