Daily Announcements 05/09/2024

ALL Edmentum courses will close on May 17th. All tests and assignments have to be submitted before 11:59pm on May 17th. If courses are not finished, you will be recommended to come to summer school in order to finish any remaining open courses. At the end of summer school, all courses will be permanently closed and unfinished courses will be started over again in the Fall if it’s a required class. Important note: Teachers grading Edmentum will still use plagiarism software checkers, so please submit your personal work or include citations if you are using outside sources. 

All library books are due by this Friday, the 10th.

Juniors and Seniors going to prom –  If you are bringing someone who does not attend Monroe Central, they MUST bring a picture ID with them to prom. 

If you need a prom ticket it is not too late!! Stop by the office to purchase yours.

Juicy Jakes Smashburgers is looking for workers age 16 and older who want to work this summer. Applications available at 700 E McGalliard Rd, Muncie, IN 47303.

Monroe Central High School will be hosting IHSAA sports physicals on May 30th with Dr. Lumpkin. The cost is $20 and must be paid when signing up with Mrs. Murray in the HS office. 

Seniors: Graduation practice will take place Friday, May 31st at 9:00 a.m.  We will need everyone there that is planning to walk at graduation. Graduation picture order forms are in the office.

Monroe Central yearbooks for this school year are still available for sale – but MUST be purchased by 5/13 at the very latest. Seniors: Please do not forget to check the Student Services Senior Schoology Group periodically. There are many postings of scholarship opportunities, college events, apprenticeship programs, graduation requirement information and more. Do not miss out on an opportunity! Please see Mrs. Swift in Student Services with any questions.

After School Help is available on Tuesdays and Thursdays until 4pm.

The MCCTA (Mrs. Van Pelt) is selling granola bars, 2 bars for $1.

The JH golf team won against Shenanodah last night 171 to 179. Top 5 scores were:

Cooper Huston: 30

Aberee Ervin: 32

Case Chalfant: 35

Charlee Morris: 37

Hogan Hendrickson: 37

The varsity softball team lost to the Madison Grant Argylls 15-3. Whitley Martin, Jayme Brannan, Mak Brainerd, Zoie Hood, and Ailey Moon all had a hit for the Bears. Brainerd and Macy Cummins each drove in a run. Brannan had two stolen bases. The Bears host Muncie Central tomorrow for senior night at 5pm. 

The varsity boys golf team traveled to Albany Golf Club to take on a tough Delta team on Wednesday. The Bears did not play very well and fell to the Eagles 183-157. Bears were led by Coltan West with a solid round of 40. Other top scores for the team were Maddox Taylor with a 42, Cohen West with a 46, Rigley Braun with a 47, and Hayden Taylor with a 48. Keegan Stoops had a nice chip in par save that was a highlight on the day as well. The Bears will have a bounce-back opportunity tomorrow against Union City before Conference this Saturday.

Varsity baseball results from last night:

Monroe Central – 7

Richmond – 3

Strong pitching by Logan Walker giving up only 2 runs over 4 innings, coupled with solid defense and strong bats helps the Bears defeat Richmond Wednesday night. Duncan, Siekmann and Pence all had multiple hits to lead the Bears offensively. Next game Friday @ 7:30 @ Blackford.
