Daily Announcements 05/17/2024
Attention, those interested in running high school cross country in the fall. There will be a parent and student/runner meeting on Wednesday, May 22nd at 6:00pm. We will meet outside at the south end of the track at the concession.
ALL Edmentum courses will close on May 17th. All tests and assignments have to be submitted before 11:59pm on May 17th. If courses are not finished, you will be recommended to come to summer school in order to finish any remaining open courses. At the end of summer school, all courses will be permanently closed and unfinished courses will be started over again in the Fall if it’s a required class. Important note: Teachers grading Edmentum will still use plagiarism software checkers, so please submit your personal work or include citations if you are using outside sources.
Monroe Central High School will be hosting IHSAA sports physicals on May 30th with Dr. Lumpkin. The cost is $20 and must be paid when signing up with Mrs. Murray in the HS office.
Seniors: Graduation practice will take place Friday, May 31st at 9:00 a.m. We will need everyone there that is planning to walk at graduation. Graduation picture order forms are in the office.
Juicy Jakes Smashburgers is looking for workers age 16 and older who want to work this summer. Applications available at 700 E McGalliard Rd, Muncie, IN 47303.
The Albany Vet Clinic will be hiring students for work this summer. Anyone interested needs to stop by the vet office and fill out an application.

The Jr High Cross Country teams wrapped up their season Wednesday evening at the County Meet at Union City. The Girls team finished the season undefeated and achieved two new school records at the meet! The Boys team has worked hard all season with many athletes competing in several events each meet.

The Monroe Central boys golf team hosted Wapahani on Thursday at Hickory Hills. The Bears won the match 169-179. The Bears were led by Coltan West with a 40. Right behind him was Cohen West with a 41. Hayden Taylor shot a 43 and Rigley Braun rounded out the scores with a 45. Bentley Thornburg finished with a 46. The Bears will travel to the Player’s Club on Saturday for the Muncie Invite competing against several of the top teams in the state.
The Bears softball team beat the Randolph Southern Rebels Thursday 13-2. The team had a total of 12 hits with Jayme Brannan, Zoie Hood, and Whitley Martin adding two each. Hood, Chelsea Erwin, Aubrey Johnson, and Ailey Moon had 2 RBI each. Brannan and Macy Cummins stole 2 bases each. Kloee Brannan got the start in the circle and went strong for 3 innings collecting no earned runs and 5 strikeouts. Maria Oliphant relieved her to finish the 4th inning with no earned runs. Aubrey Johnson came in as relief in the 5th inning with no earned runs and 3 strikeouts. The Bears play a conference match at Wapahani on Friday at 5p.
