There will be a “Senior Sunrise” breakfast of donuts, chocolate milk and orange juice. Seniors are asked to bring a donation to cover your cost of breakfast. Plan to be in the south parking lot at 6:30am on Wednesday, August 17th. We will discuss senior class colors, song, flower, etc.
There will be a student tailgate party this Friday beginning at 6:00 p.m. before the home football game against Winchester, sponsored by Bob’s Welding & Repair, Aire Serv Heating & Air Conditioning, and the Monroe Central Alumni Association. Hot dogs, chips and water will be provided to all Monroe Central Jr.-Sr. High students who attend. Students are encouraged to bring yard games. We will also have a dance at the high school after the football game is over until 11:30pm. Cost of the dance is $3 per person. Snacks will be provided.
Class Meetings: Class meetings will be held today and tomorrow during LITE. The meetings today will be held each lunch in the following order: Grade 11, 9, and 7. Tuesday meetings will be: Grades 12, 10, and 8.
All MACC and Career Explorer students: Please be sure to attend your LITE period before leaving school for the PM MACC or your career program. Also, students returning from the AM MACC or career sessions will be required to attend LITE period and be back at the school by the start of LITE at 11:14 AM. Attendance will be taken during this time and you are responsible for checking in with your LITE teacher daily.
Parking Pass Information: If you are a new driver or have a different vehicle than last year please be sure to fill out a parking information form that can be found in the office. All new drivers will be required to have a parking pass for their vehicles and these cost $5. Students must have a parking pass if they drive to school. No exceptions.
Attention grades 9-12: If you are interested in running for your class officers positions (President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary, or Sergeant of Arms) or class student council representatives, you need to send a schoology message to Mrs. Van Pelt by Wednesday, August 17 at noon. Voting will take place later that week. In the message make sure you have your name, class and position.
The girls’ golf team participated in the Shenandoah invitational on Saturday. Lauren Skinner shot her best career 18 hole score. Ariana Poe scored her best career 9 hole and 18 hole scores. Great job Ladies! The girls travel to Elwood golf course on Monday to take on Alexandria.
MCs JV volleyball squad opened the season with a win against Elwood. Liz Chamberlain led the golden bears with 5 digs. Karmen Summers led the team with 5 kills.
The varsity volleyball squad fell to Elwood in a hard fought battle losing 23-25, 22-25, 26-28. Sydney Patterson led the team with 12 digs. Maggie Haney led the team in the front row with 10 kills and 2 blocks. The Golden Bears will play Union City at home on Tuesday.
