School pictures will be this Thursday, August 25th. Seniors – please make sure you wear something nice as this will be the picture that goes on the senior composite.

The Annual Molecular Medicine In Action program will be held on March 5-6, 2023. The program is FREE of charge, sponsored by Lilly Endowment and conducted by Indiana University School of Medicine faculty. The goal of the symposium is to increase students’ excitement for science, increase the number of students that ultimately select science as a career choice, and provide hands-on learning in a state-of-the art medical research environment. Nominations for sophomore, junior and/or senior high school students to participate in the program will be accepted until November 11, 2022. Please see Mrs. Swift in Student Services for more information.

7th and 8th grade students, this is a reminder that we have begun fundraising for the DC trip for next year. Please remember to turn in your permission slip to the office to begin selling chocolates. Remember that you are not supposed to sell chocolates during the school day. Sales will end on September 1.

The girls golf team was defeated by Yorktown at Players Club only by 6 strokes. Lauren Skinner was low for the Bears. Lauren, Carol Anne Kritsch and Carli Hunt beat their girls. The girls compete in their conference tournament on Saturday at Maplewood Golf Club.

The MC Jr High Cross Country teams were victorious against Driver on Tuesday night. The girls’ team scored a perfect 15 with Abby Thomas, Aberee Ervin and Brylie Tinsman packing their 1, 2, 3 punch. Andi Watson and Bryn Patterson weren’t far behind completing the top 5. Oaklie Davis and Ailey Moon came in 6th and 7th for MC. The boys’ team scored a near perfect 18. Jackson Wines came in 1st followed again by Zadok Lloyd in 2nd. Alexander Coe finished 4th overall followed by Jed Ferguson in 5th and Wyatt Daniels in 6th place. Ashton Dance and Braxton Gamber finished out the top 7 MC runners. The Bears run next in a 6-way meet in Union City this Thursday evening.

The Junior High Volleyball teams opened up their season last night with tough losses to Shenandoah. Both teams battled well and we can expect great things to come from these teams in the games to come. The 7th/8th Grade Team score was: 10-25, 19-25. The 8th Grade Team score was: 16-25, 16-25.

The Lady Bears JV volleyball squad beat Southern Wells Tuesday night in a 2-0 sweep. Hadley Hendrickson led the JV team with 7 kills while McKenna Hendey and Karmen Summers each added 1 kill apiece. Liz Chamberlain led the team with 4 aces, adding 3 kills, and 1 dig. Sophia Bolton led the team with 4 digs. The team will play again on Thursday against Northeastern. JV scores: 25-21, 25-16.

The varsity Lady Bears volleyball team fell to Southern Wells in 4 sets Tuesday night. Sydney Patterson led the team in kills and digs tallying 8 kills and 13 digs as well as adding 1 ace. Aubrey Johnson led the team with 5 aces, adding 11 digs and 3 kills of her own. Maggie Haney added 6 kills and 3 digs as well as 4 aces. Bri Case and Karmen Summers each added 4 digs apiece. The Varsity team will face Union tonight at 6:00pm. Varsity scores: 24-26, 25-17, 15-25, 16-25
