The Monroe Central Student Amateur Radio Club signup is now open to all students, teachers and staff. It is a free after school club. We provide all the radios, antennas and training materials to study for licensing. Talk to the world with a radio, battery and wire. Sign up sheets are in the office. There will also be a radio club table set up after school on September 9th with more information.
The Coffee and Hot Chocolate Bar in the library is available to any high school student in the morning before classes start, but is closed during regular school hours. DO NOT be tardy to your first period class! Enjoy!
FCA will be starting up with donuts and dodgeball!! Jr. High will be 8/28 during study hall. We hope to see you there!
Seniors: You may have noticed a new group added to your Schoology, “The Class of 2025 Student Services Group”. It is very important to check the postings to this group regularly. The purpose of this group is to inform Seniors of available scholarships, college visits/open houses, apprenticeships, graduation information, etc. Do not miss out on any opportunities!
High School students interested in Health Careers: On September 20th we will be taking students to participate in a special event happening on Ball State’s campus. The Club MEDIC event will give you a chance to participate in a variety of health professions exploration activities through various departments in the College of Health, including: Counseling Psychology, Kinesiology, Nursing, Nutrition and Health Science, Social Work, and Speech Pathology. In addition to career exploration, Ball State faculty and students will lead sessions on College Readiness, Paying for College, Success Skills, and Co-Curricular Activities on a college campus. Space is limited. Please sign up in student services by August 30th. See Mrs. Moran with any questions.
Miss Central Indiana & Miss White River Scholarship Opportunity: The Miss America Opportunity (MAO) is offering a scholarship opportunity for women between the ages of 14 and 18. If you want to learn more about this scholarship opportunity, please contact Miss Greer for additional details and registration forms.
The weight room will be open for students after school on Monday through Thursday each week from 3:15-4:15pm.
After school tutoring will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:15 to 4pm in room 115 or 118.

The Monroe Central 7th grade Lady Bears put up a strong fight last night against Richmond but ultimately fell short, losing in two closely contested games. In the first game, Richmond jumped out to an early lead and maintained control throughout, securing a 25-15 victory. Despite the deficit, the Lady Bears never backed down and showed determination, battling for every point. The second game was much tighter. The Lady Bears ramped up their intensity, keeping the score close from start to finish. With solid serves, improved defense, and teamwork, Monroe Central pushed Richmond to the limit. Haidyn Knott gave the team a significant boost, serving six straight points and delivering an ace that kept Monroe Central within striking distance. Izzy McGrath also contributed with two key kills during the match. Ultimately, despite their improved play, Richmond managed to edge out the set 25-23, sealing the match. Coach Kim Grove praised the team’s effort, highlighting their improvement and competitive spirit. “We learned a lot from this match, and I’m proud of how they fought, especially in the second game.”
6th, 7th and 8th grade Lady bears play again tonight for their 1st home game.
The 8th grade Lady Bears lost a tough season opener to Richmond Monday night. Highlights included McKenna Murphy with 2 aces, May Morrison with 3 kills and a dig, and Lucy Huston with a dig and fantastic block that shifted team momentum and morale! Home opener against Shenandoah set for 8/27 at 5:30 in Hall Gym!
The Junior Varsity Lady Golden Bears had a hard fought battle tonight against the Panthers of Elwood. They ended up taking them to 3 sets but came up just short in the third set. Scores for each set were 14-25, 25-22, and 9-15. Sophomore Taylor Oren had some impressive serving tonight and was also quite effective in the back row with several defensive digs.
The Varsity match was also quite intense throughout its entirety. The Golden Bears had the opportunity to close out in two different sets but the Panthers fought back hard to win this match 3-0. Scores for each set were 19-25, 24-26, and 27-29. Junior Sophia Bolton put up some impressive plays tonight having 18 assists, 6 digs, 1 ace, and no service errors.
Both Junior Varsity and Varsity will be in action again Tuesday night (8/27/24) at home when they face off with the Raiders from Southern Wells. JV match will begin at 6:00p.m. in the Bear Den.
