The Monroe Central 7th grade Lady Bears put up a good effort last night but ultimately fell short against the Shenandoah Raiders, losing in 2 straight matches with scores of 25-18 and 25-19. Despite the loss, the Lady Bears displayed determination and flashes of strong play throughout the match. Izzy McGrath led the team with multiple attacks, 1 kill and 2 blocks, making her presence known at the net and challenging the Raiders’ attack. Bristol Goad was effective from the service line, delivering 2 aces that helped keep the Bears competitive. Gracie McCreery also contributed with 5 attacks, 2 kills, and 1 ace adding crucial points during key moments of the match. Despite the loss, Monroe Central showed promise and tenacity. The Lady Bears will look to learn from this experience and regroup as they prepare for their next matchup, eager to bounce back and continue improving throughout the season.

The Junior Varsity Golden Bear volleyball team came out strong last night playing well together and won the first set against Southern Wells with ease with a score of 25-8. The Raiders fought back in set #2 and were able to bounce back with a score of 14-25. Our lady Golden Bears were not done though and they kept fighting and ended up with the win by taking the third set 17-15.  Sophomores Taylor Oren, Maria Oliphant, and Zoie Hood had some nice serving, defensive, and offensive plays on the court tonight. Overall, the whole team came together and showed so much improvement in their skills of working together.

The Varsity Lady Golden Bears also came out with the right frame of mind in tonight’s match.  While we still came up shy of getting the win, some great strides of improvement were witnessed on the court and this team is continually showing signs of positive growth. Our Golden Bears lost in 3 with scores of 22-25, 14-25, and 20-25. Freshman Bentley Pegg had a very strong showing in tonight’s match.  Her defensive skills were on point with 7 strong service receptions and no reception errors, 3 digs, and a solo block. She also added 5 offensive kills to the team totals.  For being a freshman starter, Bentley is continuing to show how she earned her spot on this squad.

Our Lady Golden Bears will be back in action tonight as they battle with the Rockets of Union.  This match will be played on the road at Union with JV starting at 6pm.
