Our JV/V volleyball teams were up against the Falcons of Winchester Tuesday night.  Our JV team came out with the right frame of mind and they were in it to compete.  They worked hard and even though they came up short with scores of 23-25, 25-27, their coaches were extremely proud of their efforts from start to finish on that floor tonight.  Standing out tonight was Freshman Kyra Brockman.  She added 1 ace, 6 kills, 8 receptions, and 2 digs to the team totals.  Great job tonight Kyra. Our Varsity Squad also came out with the right frame of mind.  We had worked hard in our serve receive in practice and some of those improvements were definitely seen on the floor tonight.  We can’t take anything from the Falcons though.  They are a much improved volleyball squad.  They came out with the win tonight with scores of 16-25, 10-25, and 11-25.  Standing out tonight was Junior Shyan Bennett.  Shyan continues to show her true heart and soul while on the floor.  Even despite tough moments, she works to push through these.  Tonight she had 7 Kills, 22 receptions, and 5 digs.  Her constant desire to want to improve is a goal everyone should want to achieve.  Your efforts do not go unnoticed.

Due to some illness issues, last night’s volleyball match against the Tigers of Alexandria ended up being a Varsity ONLY contest.  Our Lady Golden Bears got out to an early lead in set 1 and ended up closing that set with a win 25-22.  The Tigers came back with lots of defensive determination and took some steam out of our Golden Bears and ended up winning the next three sets 15-25, 16-25 and 11-25.  Freshman Bentley Pegg continues to work hard at improving her game all the way around.  She put up some impressive numbers in tonight’s match with 6 aces, 5 kills, 11 receptions, and 14 digs.  Keep putting in the good work Bentley.  Also of note tonight, Junior Addi Grove had an impressive 10 kills.  Nice job Addi! Our volleyball teams continue their action this week tomorrow (9/12/24) as they travel to take on the Eagles of Delta.  JV is scheduled to begin at 6 pm.
