The Golden Bear football team rebounded with a big home win over Tri-High 35-26 this past Friday. The game was exciting with a good student section leading the way. The team played exceptionally well in the kicking game with Nick Hendrickson hitting 5 PAT’s. The team has zero fumbles lost through 4 games. The Bear’s play at home against Indy Tindley this Friday.

Saturday was a great day to run for our Jr High Cross Country teams.  15 out of 19 runners earned season best times. The Girls team finished 10 out of 13 complete teams and the Boys were 10th out of 16 teams.  Leading the Girls was Mila Morris coming in 26th place out of 136 Girls. Ada Wagner finished 47th and Brynlee Dumpert was 50th.  Madolynn Fortreide had her best race of the season, yet again! Liam Brown was 60th out of 174 Boys. Devin Baker ran a great race, finishing 4th for MC. Ashton Dance, Avan Johnson, and Braxton Wright ran hard as well. Great Job Bears!

The Varsity Lady Golden Bears hosted the Monroe Central invite in the Bear Den on 9/14/24.  This team is continuing to battle with player numbers and injuries at the moment.  Some adjustments had to be made to pull up some Junior Varsity players to help fill the void.  Despite this, the team still tries to stay focused in accomplishing overall growth.  In their first match against Lincoln they fell in a close 3-set match with scores of 25-23, 19-25, 11-15.  The Golden Bears then went up against a very strong Heritage Christian team (who ended up winning the entire tournament) with scores of 11-25 and 6-25.  In their final match of the day, the Golden Bears took on Blackford but came up short in a 2-set match despite some very competitive play with scores of 17-25 and 21-25. Some player stats to highlight for the day would be Junior Shyan Bennett who had 17 kills, 33 receptions, 3 blocks, and 12 digs.  Junior Sophia Bolton had 25 assists on the day along with 11 digs and a kill.  Sophomore Zoie Hood saw her first bit of Varsity playing time today and had 4 kills, 3 receptions, 3 digs and 2 aces. The Junior Varsity and Varsity Golden Bears will be back in action on Tuesday, September 17th when they host the Warrior from Wes Del at home.  JV is scheduled to start at 6 pm.
