Daily Announcements 09/19/2022

The FFA will be holding their very first chapter meeting of the 22-23 school year in the cafeteria at 7:00pm on Monday the 19th. We will have chili to kickoff the fall season and updates on upcoming opportunities, there also will be a fun activity at the end of the meeting. Please sign up on the ag room door. Hope to see you there!

Any FFA member interested in attending District 9 kickoff on Tues. Sept. 20, pick up a permission form in Mr. Weilerś room and sign up on the door.

We will have tutoring every Tuesday and Thursday night after school. Mrs. Van Pelt will tutor on Tuesdays and Mr. Hartle will tutor on Thursdays. Any questions, see Mrs. Swift in Student Services.

There will be a boys basketball call-out meeting for grades 9-12 in Hall Gym on Wednesday, September 21st.

All high school students (grades 9-12) are invited to the Harvest Semi-Formal dance on Saturday, October 1st from 8pm-11pm. Cost of tickets will be $15 for couples and $8 for a single. Tickets can be purchased during lunch starting the week of September 26th and will also be sold at the door the night of the dance. If you plan on bringing a student from another school, please fill out a dance request form and have it returned to the office before September 30th.

The Monroe Central chapter of National Honor Society is hosting a blood drive on Friday, September 30th. Donors must be at least 16 years old. Students 17 years old and over can sign up without parent permission forms. 16 year old students may sign up, but require a parent permission form to be completed. Permission forms may be obtained in the office. Students may register online – check the printed announcements in Schoology for the link. We have also posted the link along with the announcement on the Monroe Central Jr.-Sr. High School mass group page in Schoology. See Mrs. Ulrey if you have any questions.

The Monroe Central Girls’ Golf Team tied for 8th in the Crestview golf sectional on Saturday. All of the girls played good rounds of golf. The team scored their team low for 9 holes and 18. Low for the Bears is Ariana Poe shooting 100 (season best 9 holes and 18 holes). Other scores for the Bears: Maleigh Ervin: 106 (season best 9 and 18), Carol Anne Kritsch: 113 (season best 18), Lauren Skinner (career best 18), Carli Hunt 119 (career best 18). The team would like to thank Mr. Burkett, Coach and Mrs. Haney for coming out to support the girls on Saturday. They would also like to thank Coach Coltan for all his help.

The varsity golden bears volleyball team played in the Knightstown invitation this weekend going 1-3. Leaders for the bears include Hadley Hendrickson with 10 kills and Liz Chamberlain with 15 digs. Maggie Haney contributed 8 kills and 12 digs. Sydney Patterson added 1 kill and 13 digs. Addi Grove added 8 kills while Bri Case added 11 digs. Scores: L- Randolph Southern 7-25, 19-25, W- Tri 25-27, 25-7, 15-9, L- Seton Catholic 12-25, 10-25, L- Union City 11-25, 14-25.

The Jr High Cross Country teams had great races Saturday at the South Adams Invitational against 15 other teams with over 150 runners in each race. The Girls were champions for the 2nd year in a row. The Boys finished 5th overall. Aberee Ervin moved into the top spot for MC, finishing 5th overall. Abby Thomas wasn’t far behind in 9th place. Brylie Tinsman placed 20th and Andi Watson was 22nd. Brynlee Patterson came in 38th. Oaklie Davis finished out the top 7 in 51st place. For the boys, Jackson Wines was top runner, coming in at 15th place. Alexander Coe finished in 25th place, Zadok Lloyd finished in 32nd, and Wyatt Daniels in 48th. Stephen Stockwell ran a great race to finish number 6 for MC and 62nd overall.

The Golden Bear Football team lost on the road at South Adams last week 35-19. Elijah Taylor kicked a 32 yard field goal and the Bears did not turn the ball over. The team travels to Wes-Del this Friday for the Helmet Classic rivalry.
