Daily Announcements 09/20/2022

Any FFA member interested in attending District 9 kickoff on Tues. Sept. 20, pick up a permission form in Mr. Weilerś room and sign up on the door.

We will have tutoring every Tuesday and Thursday night after school. Mrs. Van Pelt will tutor on Tuesdays and Mr. Hartle will tutor on Thursdays. Any questions, see Mrs. Swift in Student Services.

There will be a boys basketball call-out meeting for grades 9-12 in Hall Gym on Wednesday, September 21st.

There will be a baseball callout meeting on Friday during LITE period for grades 9-12.

All high school students (grades 9-12) are invited to the Harvest Semi-Formal dance on Saturday, October 1st from 8pm-11pm. Cost of tickets will be $15 for couples and $8 for a single. Tickets can be purchased during lunch starting the week of September 26th and will also be sold at the door the night of the dance. If you plan on bringing a student from another school, please fill out a dance request form and have it returned to the office before September 30th.

The Monroe Central chapter of National Honor Society is hosting a blood drive on Friday, September 30th. Donors must be at least 16 years old. Students 17 years old and over can sign up without parent permission forms. 16 year old students may sign up, but require a parent permission form to be completed. Permission forms may be obtained in the office. Students may register online – check the printed announcements in Schoology for the link. We have also posted the link along with the announcement on the Monroe Central Jr.-Sr. High School mass group page in Schoology. See Mrs. Ulrey if you have any questions.

JV and Varsity volleyball lost in 2 heartbreaking finishes last night in the final sets for both teams. JV took Shenandoah to 3 sets, dropping the 3rd set 7-15. Leaders for the JV include Hadley Hendrickson with 7 kills and 2 aces and Karmen Summers with 9 digs. Multiple Golden Bears added a pair of digs with Kaylee Swift and Sophia Bolton as well as a pair of kills from Ava Phelps. Angie Buress and Mckenna Hendy also added 3 digs for their team while Liz Chamberlain added 3 kills. Scores: 24-25, 25-23, 7-15

The Varsity Golden Bears fought back from an 0-2 start on the night by taking Shenandoah to 5 sets, dropping the 5th in a heartbreaking 13-15 finish. Multiple players were active on defense, not allowing balls to drop on our side. Aubrey Johnson led her team with 21 digs, Bri Case followed with 20 digs, and Sydney Patterson added 19 digs. Maggie Haney led the front row with 12 kills also tallying 8 digs. Sydney Patterson, Jazzy Short, and Hadley Hendrickson added 5 kills a piece while Addi Grove and Liz Chamberlain added 3 kills each. Scores: 18-25, 18-25, 26-24, 25-19, 13-15
