The 8th grade volleyball team put on an impressive display at the Driver Invitational all day Saturday, receiving many compliments from coaches of other teams! They defeated Seton Catholic and Connersville in 3 sets each, and fell to South Adams in 2. Hitters McKenna Murphy and May Morrison had several kills over the course of the day with assists coming from setters Lucy Huston and Emma Pugsley. Gracee Burris had her first huge block at middle hitter that shifted momentum in the game. Adi Davis had her first dig of the season in the back row. Grace Bootcheck and Braelynn Gibbs helped the team by taking over new positions when they were needed. Robyn Ulrey’s serve game was right where we needed her to be. Alyssa Childress played quick on the net defensively. Last, but definitely not least, Ivy Phelps’s efforts at libero contributed to all successes on the court with a phenomenal pass game, playing nearly every single point of all three games. The Lady Bears enter their toughest week of the season this week, with matches on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, then the MEC Tournament on Saturday morning!

The Golden Bear Football team won Friday evening at home over Indy Findley 29-19.

The win improves the team’s record to 4-1 heading into the Harvest Helmet Classic this week against MEC rival Wes-Del. The game is a road game. Two important stats from the game, the Bear’s have achieved zero lost fumbles on the season, a very impressive stat and a foundation to our culture. Also in the special team’s, Nick Hendrickson kicked an impressive 34 yard field goal. This is two yards short of the school record by Kicking Bear Taylor!

The Lady Golden Bears Varsity Volleyball team traveled to Knightstown to play in the Panther Invite.  The morning started off a bit slow and our Lady Golden Bears came up short in a 3-set match against Randolph Southern with scores of 25-27, 26-24, and 11-15.  They went into a match against a well rounded squad from Milan and suffered a two set defeat with scores of 7-25 and 21-25.  After a short break our Lady Golden Bears came out with a new mindset and won a two set match against Anderson Prep with scores of 25-18 and 25-10.  Their final match of the day was against the host Panthers of Knightstown.  The Panthers have a pretty strong squad and took set 1 with a score of 16-25.  However, our Bears were determined and went back in set 2 fighting hard and ended up winning that set 25-18.  It came to a deciding third set and the Panthers just edged out our Golden Bears with a score of 10-15.  This was a hard fought match for both teams. A couple of notable stat totals on the day came from Junior Shyan Bennett with 4 Blocks, 1 Ace, 33 Digs, 34 Kills, and 69 Receptions. Shyan was named to and won an award for the all tournament team. Junior Sophia Bolton also had a nice day with 4 Aces, 9 Kills, 28 Digs, and 58 Assists. Our Lady Golden Bears are back in action Monday night (9/23/24) when they travel to take on the Raiders of Shenandoah.  JV is scheduled to start at 6 pm.
