Dress up days: Friday – Brown vs. Gold
The blood drive centers are shut down in Florida and parts of Georgia and South Carolina due to the hurricane. Blood is in demand in those areas and we need to step up our donation efforts here in Indiana. If you’d like to donate blood tomorrow, please check the printed announcements in Schoology for the link.
This week is College Go Week – Student Services is sponsoring two projects with that. First, all students are encouraged to decorate their lockers (blue tape or magnets only) with items representing their favorite colleges. Judging will occur on Friday during LITE period. Second, any senior who applies to a college this week needs to bring proof of that to Student Services this week to be entered into a drawing. Many of the colleges waive application fees this week, so it’s a great time to apply if you haven’t already.
The college go week activity for Thursday is a scavenger hunt. There are different objects that are posted up in the main areas of the hallways and cafeteria that the students will take pictures with. There are no objects in classrooms, bathrooms, or any restricted areas that the students do not access. They are also in all common areas so there would be no reason for high school students to be in junior high and no junior high students in the high school. Once a student has found and taken a photo with all the items they can come to student services and get a prize! You will be receiving a list of the items and rules today during first period. Good luck and have fun!
The Monroe Central High School Alumni Association will be holding their annual Pulled Pork Fundraiser during the football game this Friday at Fall Homecoming. Meals are $5.00 and include a sandwich, chips, applesauce and a drink. Pie can be purchased for an additional $1.00 per serving. We will be set up behind the bleachers along the building. The event will be moved into the cafeteria in the event of rain. The Alumni will also be crowning the Harvest King
and Queen at halftime. Monies raised from this event supports the Scholarship Fund and other activities throughout the High School and the Elementary.
All high school students (grades 9-12) are invited to the Harvest Semi-Formal dance on Saturday, October 1st from 8pm-11pm. Cost of tickets will be $15 for couples and $8 for a single. Tickets can be purchased during lunch and will also be sold at the door the night of the dance. If you plan on bringing a student from another school, please fill out a dance request form and have it returned to the office before September 30th.
The Farmland Fire Department Fire Prevention dance will be on Saturday, October 8th from 8-11pm. Come out for a fun time!
Seniors interested in painting ceiling tiles – our next event will be an after school event on Tuesday, October 4th until 5:30 p.m. This will be your last chance. If interested and unable to attend, please contact Mr. Retherford on Schoology.
