The blood drive centers are shut down in Florida and parts of Georgia and South Carolina due to the hurricane. Blood is in demand in those areas and we need to step up our donation efforts here in Indiana. If you’d like to donate blood today, please check the printed announcements in Schoology for the link.
Last night the Randolph County Foundation had a dinner to recognize the Top 10 finalists for this year’s Lilly Endowment Scholarship. Each student was asked to speak about a teacher that has influenced them in their education. Congratulations to our three finalists and their educators.

The Monroe Central High School Alumni Association will be holding their annual Pulled Pork Fundraiser during the football game this Friday at Fall Homecoming. Meals are $5.00 and include a sandwich, chips, applesauce and a drink. Pie can be purchased for an additional $1.00 per serving. We will be set up behind the bleachers along the building. The event will be moved into the cafeteria in the event of rain. The Alumni will also be crowning the Harvest King
and Queen at halftime. Monies raised from this event supports the Scholarship Fund and other activities throughout the High School and the Elementary.
All high school students (grades 9-12) are invited to the Harvest Semi-Formal dance on Saturday, October 1st from 8pm-11pm. Cost of tickets will be $15 for couples and $8 for a single. Tickets can be purchased during lunch and will also be sold at the door the night of the dance. If you plan on bringing a student from another school, please fill out a dance request form and have it returned to the office before September 30th.
The Farmland Fire Department Fire Prevention dance will be on Saturday, October 8th from 8-11pm. Come out for a fun time!
Seniors interested in painting ceiling tiles – our next event will be an after school event on Tuesday, October 4th until 5:30 p.m. This will be your last chance. If interested and unable to attend, please contact Mr. Retherford on Schoology.
We will have tutoring every Tuesday and Thursday night after school. Mrs. Van Pelt will tutor on Tuesdays and Mr. Hartle will tutor on Thursdays. Any questions, see Mrs. Swift in Student Services.
The varsity volleyball squad competed against Connersville last night falling in a 3 set sweep. Sydney Patterson led the team in the back row with 19 digs while Liz Chamberlain led the front row with 4 kills also adding 4 digs. Maggie Haney ended the night with 3 kills, 5 digs, and 1 ace. Hadley Hendrickson added 3 kills, Addi Grove added 2 kills, and Jazzy Short also added a kill. Karmen Summers had 5 digs for the Golden Bears. Scores: 15-25, 17-25, 11-25
The JH Volleyball teams had a great night last night on the road bringing home 2 impressive victories.The 7th/8th grade combined team won over Union in 2 sets with scores of 25-6 and 25-17. Some stat leaders for the match were: Bentley Pegg with an impressive 20 aces, Kinlie Lester with 2 aces, Lillie Baker with 2 aces
and Kyra Brockman with 2 aces to close out the match.
The 8th grade team also got the win in 2 sets over the Rockets with scores of 25-12 and 25-11. Leading the way was: Zoie Hood with 8 aces and 4 kills, Audrey Boley with 4 aces, Taylor Oren with 3 aces and a kill.
Great job to both teams with these big wins. REMINDER to the JH volleyball players you will NOT have practice today after school. Enjoy your weekend.
