Congratulations to the 7th and 8th grade class representatives for the 2023 homecoming court.
7th grade: Aberee Ervin and Cooper Huston
8th grade: Kloee Brannan and Isaiah Patterson.

The class of 2025 will have their first homecoming work session on Saturday from 9 to 12.

There will be a cheer clinic for students in grades K-8 on Saturday, January 28th in the high school cafeteria from 9:30am-12:30pm. Cost is $30. Please pick up a registration form in the office. Forms are due this Friday.

On Saturday February 11th, from 8AM to 4PM, the Annual IPMG/Special Olympics basketball Invitational will be held at Monroe Central High School. Special Olympics is looking for volunteers in various opportunities such as being a referee, score keeping, runners, clean up, concessions, etc. If you’re interested in volunteering, all day or half day, please see Mrs. Wines in Room 144 to sign up.

Attention Students who are picked up from school at the end of the day. The pick-up area for all students is the main parking lot at the main entrance. Students should not be picked up in the North Staff parking lot. If you have been picked up in that lot, please make sure to inform whoever picks you up to do so in the main parking lot at the main entrance. Thank you!

Attention Sophomores and Juniors: All MACC applications must be turned into student services by Wednesday, January 18th. If you do not have your application turned in by this date, it will be taken out of your schedule for next school year. Please stop by student services for applications and information.

Monroe Central Jr. High girls won Monday night against South Adams 47-13. Olivia Conklin led the way with 15 points, 3 steals, and 2 rebounds. Aberee Ervin followed with 14 points, 11 rebounds, and 5 steals, Brynlee Patterson added 7 points, 3 steals, and 1 rebounds, Oaklei Davis contributed with 6 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 steals, Haidyn Dumpert had 3 points, 3 steals, and 2 rebounds, Charlee Morris added 2 points, and 1 rebound. There was an extra quarter played after the regular game for the 7th graders, Lady Bears won 4-1.

The boys varsity basketball team beat conference foe Shenandoah Friday night 36-28. The Bears got down early 8-2 then over the next quarter and half they went on a 17-1 run to lead at the half 19-9. In the 3rd quarter Shenandoah came out and hit some easy baskets off of MC turnovers but the bears held on to the lead going into the 4th quarter. In the 4th quarter the bears never gave up the lead and hit some timely free throws to seal the win. The bears were led in scoring by Cole Munchel with 15 followed by Easton Foster with 8. The boys jv team lost to Shenandoah Friday night 51-34. The Bears were down 14 at halftime but in the 3rd quarter the Bears cut the lead to 5 but in the end Shenandoah made plays and capitalized on mc turnovers. The bears were led in scoring by Carter Wheatley and Justus Ullom with 8 apiece. The Bears next game is Friday night at conference rival Eastern Hancock.

Monroe Central Jr. High girls won Saturday afternoon 57-13 against Eastern Hancock Middle School during the second game of the MEC tournament. Brynlee Patterson leading the way with 23 points, and 5 steals, Aberee Ervin followed with 20 points, 9 steals, Haidyn Dumpert added 5 points, Brylie Tinsman had 4 points, Abby Thomas and Charlee Morris both added 2 points each, and Oaklei Davis had 1 point. The Lady Bears then went on to win Saturday afternoon in the MEC championship game against Blue River 39-3. Brynlie Patterson led the way with 13 points, 10 steals, and 3 rebounds, Briley Tinsman added 8 points, 1 steal, and 1 rebound, Oaklei Davis had 8 points, 9 rebounds, and 1 steal, Haidyn Dumpert contributed with 6 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 steals, Aberee Ervin had 2 points, 8 steals, and 7 rebounds, Abby Thomas added 2 points, and 4 rebounds, and 4 deflections. The Varsity Wrestling Team took only 5 wrestlers and finished with 4 county champions and 1 Runner-up. Team finished 1-2 losing to Winchester 42-18 then tied with Union City 30-30 but ultimately losing due to tiebreaker f. Then defeated Randolph So 30-18. Winning his fourth county title this one @182 Hunter Page. Winning his 2nd county title @195 Kolten Tinsman. Winning their first titles were Cade Goodrich @160 and Jerimiah Ullom @170. Congratulations MC Wrestlers.

The Monroe Central 7th grade boys basketball team won their first matchup of the MEC tournament Saturday morning vs. Wes-Del, 38-29. A very strong first half helped the Bears secure the victory, with a solid team scoring effort. The Bears were led in scoring by Luke Morgan with 16. In the MEC Championship game, the Bears were defeated by a very good Eastern Hancock team, 26-24. Great effort and teamwork helped the Bears keep close throughout. Luke Morgan led the Bears in scoring with 19. The Bears return to action Tuesday night in Hall Gym against Northeastern.
