Daily Announcements 10/07/2022

Class of 2027 will be setting up a booth at the new pumpkin patch in Lynn, High Point Hills, on Sunday, October 23rd. They will be selling baked goods. Please come out and help support this class!

The MC Scholarship Fund will be hosting the annual Sadie Hawkins / Halloween Dance Saturday, October 29th. Admission will be $5 at the door. Crabtree Photography will also be available to take pictures. Pick up a picture order form in the front office or in Student Services. For more information check out the signs around the school or see Mrs. Swift in Student Services.

Do you love poetry? If so, now is your chance to compete in MC’s annual Poetry Out Loud competition. POL is a contest in which high school students recite two poems to a panel of judges for a chance to compete at the state level (and possibly win some money). If interested in this year’s competition, please contact Mrs. Braswell THIS WEEK through Schoology or in person.

We will have tutoring every Tuesday and Thursday night after school. Mrs. Van Pelt will tutor on Tuesdays and Mr. Hartle will tutor on Thursdays. Any questions, see Mrs. Swift in Student Services.

The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards are an Alliance for Young Artists & Writers. Teens in grades 7-12 (ages 13 and up) can apply in 28 categories of art and writing. If you have a passion for art and/or writing poetry check out artandwriting.org

THe JV Golden Bears fell in a tough 3 set match to Blue River Valley last night to end the regular season. Leaders for the bears were Karmen Summers with 14 digs and Hadley Hendrickson with 9 kills and 4 aces. Mckenna Hendy had 5 digs, 1 kill, and 2 aces. Sophia Bolton was strong in the back row with 9 digs also tallying 1 kill. Rylin Tinsmen picked up 3 digs also tallying 1 ace. Ava Phelps was strong in the front row with 4 kills and a block.

Scores: 21-25, 25-23, 10-15

The varsity Golden Bears fell to Blue River Valley to end the regular season. Leaders for the bears include Maggie Haney with 6 kills and Karmen Summers and Sophia Bolton tying with 10 digs apiece. Maggie Haney also tallied 9 digs. Liz Chamberlain added 3 digs and 2 kills, Hadley Hendrickson added 2 kills, and Aubrey Johnson added 7 digs and an ace. Jazzy Short tallied 7 digs. The Golden Bears will face Wapahani in the first round of Sectionals on Tuesday.
