Daily Announcements 10/12/2020

The Class of 2023 will be hosting a “Howl-O-Ween ” Pet Parade on October 31st. Registration will begin @ 12:30pm and the parade will begin @1:00pm. We will need 10 – Class of 2023 student volunteers to help with the event. Check your Schoology Group message to see what areas you are needed. Message Mrs. Landis or Becky if you can help. We need you to bring these two items to school by Friday October 23rd: a bag of candy and dog treats. We will be making treat bags for the owners & their pets to hand out that day. You can drop off these items to Becky in the front office. It will take place rain or shine! Thank you for volunteering.

Archery sign up sheets are in the office. Application deadline is October 16th.

The Monroe Central Scholarship Fund now has a Spiritwear Online Store open from now until October 19th. Just copy and paste the link to place an order. All profits go toward scholarships for our Seniors! Great prices, great apparel options, great cause! Go Bears!!

It’s Socktober! You can help make this a warmer winter for our friends in need! The Monroe Central Anchor Club is collecting new socks to donate to The Journey Home in Winchester throughout the month of October. If you are interested in donating socks, please let an Anchor know. Socks may also be taken to the box in Mr. Benken’s room, 107. Thank you!

Calling all Randolph County High School Students and Staff! There will be a Blood Drive at the Randolph County YMCA on October 15, 2020 from 3:30-6:30pm. All donors will receive a special mask and be entered to win a $25 gift card!

The Golden Bear football team won at Union County 53-7 this past Friday evening. This improves the Golden Bear record to 5-1 on the season. The team had zero turnovers on the night staying at 5 turnovers through six games, a .83 turnover per game average. A bright spot in the game was the kicking of Elijah (Kicking Bear) Taylor. He continues to be a weapon in all phases of the kicking game. He had multiple endzone kick offs, significant punts, and the second field goal of the season from 20 yards out. The Bear’s play at home this Friday as they host Shenandoah for the MEC championship game. Go Bears!

The Bears Cross Country team traveled to the Muncie SportsPlex for the IHSAA Delta Sectional! The girls placed a strong 3rd and thus qualified for the IHSAA Regional! Leading the way was the dynamic freshmen duo of Addison Coe and Katie Osborne in 9th and 10th. The boys placed 1st to capture back-to-back IHSAA Sectional Titles! Leading the way was the dynamic junior duo of Tucker Burris and Carter Miller in 1st and 2nd! Eli Chamberlain stepped up big into the 3rd position with a PR. Both teams will travel to the Muncie SportsPlex once again for the IHSAA Delta Regional on Saturday, October 17th! Go Bears!
