The Education Professions Pathway classes at MC are starting a Bear Necessities program to benefit students-in-need. Starting Tuesday, Nov. 30th through Christmas Break, the shared showcase between Mrs. Haney and Dr. Warren’s rooms will have ornaments with the toiletries and restroom supplies needed for donations. Please take a look, and if you can, take an ornament for items to purchase. Bring items to the Main Office, or drop them off with Mrs. Haney or Mr. Merkle. We would love your support in donating and supporting MC students!

For the next two weeks, MCHS will be accepting both non-perishable food and money donations for the Rex Amburn Memorial Food Drive. All donations can be dropped off in the main office today and Wednesday, then after that, they will be dropped off in boxes by grade level on the stage in the cafeteria. The MC Academy has taken on this project and will sponsor a grade level competition. The grade level that brings in the most items ($1 in cash = 1 item) will earn an ice cream sandwich for each student in that grade level at lunch. The need is great – we ask that you help us support this important food drive for the MC Community. Donations will be accepted through Friday, December 10th.

The Lady Bears of Monroe Central continued their winning ways Wednesday night by defeating Union City 70-60. The key to the game was taking care of the basketball against Union City’s pressure defense and getting it to where it needed to go, to take advantage of easy scoring opportunities. Once the bears figured that out, halfway through the second quarter and mixed in some defensive stops, the Lady Bears were able to extend their lead out to 7 points heading into halftime and eventually on to a 10 point victory. Kimber Abshear had a career high 18 points followed by Macy Shinn with a season high 17. Alex McGrath was the third bear scoring double figures with 15 points and 10 rebounds. The Bears have another challenge Saturday night as they welcome the #2 Winchester Falcons into the Bear Den where they look to build on their current 6 game winning streak.

The girls JV basketball team downed Union City 24-14 in two quarters last night. The lady bears dominated defensively allowing the Indians only 14 points in the contest. Leading the bears were Maggie Haney and Gracie Baker with 6 points each. But most impressive is that all teammates scored and contributed. Lady Bears are in action again Saturday night at home against Winchester.
