Attention 8th grade National Junior Honor Society Members: Please check your schoology messages as you have received a message from Mr. Johnson that contains your ballot to vote for NJHS officers.
Auditions for the 2023 spring play will begin next week. Please see Mrs. Ulrey in room 146 for an application and any further information this week. The play will not start until after Christmas break. The play is open for middle school and high school students. Come and join the fun!
There will be a callout meeting today during LITE period in Hall Gym for any boys and girls grades 9-12 interested in Varsity Track & Field. If you cannot make it, please message Coach Veatch on Schoology.
All library books are due Monday, December 19th before leaving for Christmas Break. Students who do not return borrowed books will be charged a fine.
Officer Parker has created a “See Something, Say Something” form for students to complete in order to create an anonymous way for students to report school safety concerns to us. That form has been put in Schoology and will likely be added to the website as well. The MCHS National Honor Society will be sponsoring a blood drive on December 13th. If you are at least 16 years of age or older, please consider giving a blood donation. You can sign up for an appointment at www.donortime.com. 16 year olds will need to get a parent consent form from the office.
Grades 9-12, mark your calendar for the Winter Semi-Formal Dance on December 30th, 2022. Tickets will be sold during lunch starting on December 12th or can be purchased at the door the night of the dance. Ticket cost is $15 per couple or $8 for a single.
The Monroe Central 7th grade Boys Basketball team defeated rival and MEC opponent Selma by a score of 41-29 to move to 6-2 on the season. A great all around game by the Bears pushed them past the Braves to stay undefeated in the MEC. The Bears were led in scoring by Luke Morgan with 21, Peyton Chamness with 9, and Myles Oliphant with 4. The Bears return to action on Monday against Union City.
The 8th grade boys suffered a 45 to 11 loss to Selma last night. The boys got off to a rough start and just were never able to get anything going. Caden Dance had 6 points. The Bears travel to Union City Monday night.
The JV Lady Bears defeated Yorktown 16-10. The Bears were led by Riu with 5 points, Gracie Baker and Sophia Bolton each had 4 points. Aubrey Johnson rounded out the scoring with 3 points. The Bears are at home Monday night against South Adams.
The Lady Bears dropped a close one 41-37, on the road at Yorktown. Kimber Abshear totaled 16 points and 16 rebounds to lead the Bears on both ends of the floor. Sydney Patterson followed with 9 points and 8 rebounds. The Bears are now 7-3 on the season and are back at home on Monday 12/12 to play South Adams.
