Jostens will be here during lunch on Tuesday, December 19th, to deliver class rings and for any last minute senior orders.

The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards deadline has been extended to midnight on Friday, December 15th. Any student 13 years or older can enter work in a variety of art and writing categories. The Scholastic Awards are a national program focused on giving creative students access to opportunities for recognition, exhibition, publication, and scholarships. Award winners are eligible for scholarships, cash awards, or tuition assistance. Contact Ms. McClung if you have any questions or need help submitting work for the awards.

Senior Shirt Information is posted in Schoology – students can order individually via the link.  The shirts will be delivered to the school and distributed when we return from Christmas break (January 4th).

For just $1, you can ditch the traditional school attire and swap it for your favorite festive PJs. That’s right, we’re giving you the chance to roll out of bed and head straight to school in comfort while supporting a great cause!

What: Christmas Pajama Day

But wait, there’s more! All proceeds from this festive fundraiser will go directly to our incredible Academic Team, helping them achieve even greater heights of success. By participating, you not only get to enjoy a day of ultimate comfort but also contribute to the growth and success of our academic stars.

Don’t miss out on the chance to make a difference and show off your holiday spirit in the coziest way possible. Mark your calendars, grab your dollar bills, and get ready to celebrate the season in style. Let’s make this Christmas Pajama Day one for the books! The Monroe Central FCA is selling FCA T-shirts for $15 each. Everyone is welcome to get a shirt, even your parents, siblings, and grandparents. Order forms will be in the office and are due with money on Friday, December 15. Checks should be made out to Monroe Central High School. If you have questions, talk to KP or a FCA leader.

There will be photos with Santa on December 17th from 1pm – 3pm @ 101 S. Main Street, Parker City. Cost is $20 for a 10 minute slot or you can walk-in. Contact Delk Photography on Facebook or call 765-625-0439. All proceeds go to the MCE Cheerleaders.

On Dec. 18th, Monroe Central FFA will be hosting our chapter Christmas party. The party will start at 4:00 pm. Wear your favorite Christmas sweater! Join in on the cookie decorating contest, and Santa will be there! We can’t wait  to see you all there!

If you are interested in volunteering at the Second Harvest Food Bank on Wednesday, January 24th, there will be a sign-up sheet in the office or you can send Mrs. Greer a Schoology message. Lunch will be provided and it will be a fun day of helping others and giving back to our community! Any student in junior high or high school will be able to sign up to go. It will be on a first come first serve basis, however, if there is a lot of interest we will schedule a second day. 

The girls and boys County Basketball Tournament will be held at Union on January 3rd-6th, 2024. Presale all session tickets are being sold from December 11th-20th in the high school office from 8am-3pm and on January 3rd from 8am-noon. All session tickets cost $15 and can be used all 4 nights of the tournament. Single session tickets purchased at the door will be $7. 

On Saturday January 13th, from 8AM to 4PM, the Annual IPMG/Special Olympics basketball Invitational will be held at Monroe Central High School. Special Olympics is looking for volunteers in various opportunities such as being a referee, score keeping, runners, clean up, concessions, etc. If you’re interested in volunteering, all day or half day, please see Mrs. Wines in room 144 or send a Schoology to sign up. 

Due to low participation in donations for the food drive the rewards (bear bar & capri sun) will not be given unless we reach a goal of 300 cans of food donated. Please join the competition and donate towards the food drive to help the families in need.

The 8th grade math lab class is hosting the annual Food Drive for Parker City/Randolph County. There will be some friendly competition between:

7th vs. 8th grade

9th vs. 10th grade

11th vs. 12th grade

Each student in the winning classes will receive a bear bar and capri sun. The food drive will run from Monday, 12/4/23  through Friday, 12/15/23. Please help those in need by donating non-perishable food and money during these dates. Each can of food is worth 1 point. Each donated dollar is worth 1 point.

Varsity wrestling results: MC 33 falls to Centerville 48.

Winners by pin fall were 138 Cory Brown, 150 Zac Martin others winners were 106 Maria Oliphant, 132 Gavyn Swolveland, 190 Jerimiah Ullom and 215 Jaiden Long.  Both Martin and Ullom moved to 9-0 on the season to remain undefeated.  Your Golden Bears Grapplers will be back on the mat in Muncie against the Bearcats on Monday December 18th. GO BEARS!

The Monroe Central 8th Grade Boys Basketball team suffered a tough defeat at the hands of Lapel Wednesday by a score of 50-28. The Bears had the game tied at 17-17 at the half, battling all 4 quarters. Luke Morgan led the Bears in scoring with 23. The Bears return to action Thursday at MEC opponent Wes-Del. 

The 7th grade boys basketball team lost to Lapel 35-24. The Bears were led in scoring by Miles gross with 12, Carter Lucies and Alex Middleton each added 6. The Bears are back in action tomorrow at Wes-Del.

The 8th grade girls basketball team improved their record to a perfect 6-0, defeating the Delta Eagles in a convincing 44-23 road victory. The Lady Bears got off to a hot start and never looked back, thanks to great court vision and ball movement. Aberee Ervin led the way for MC, scoring 10 first quarter points (18 total) to go with 7 assists and 4 steals. Oaklei Davis had 7 rebounds to go with 4 steals and 8 points. Charlee Morris was a beast on the offensive glass, pulling down 9 offensive rebounds and contributing to several second chance buckets for the team. Brylie Tinsman provided a spark off the bench, scoring 7 points and collecting 3 steals. Hayden Dumpert rounded off the scoring with 4 points to go with 3 rebounds and 4 deflections. The Lady Bears play next on January 2nd when they host the Tri Titans in Hall Gym. Go Bears!

The 6th and 7th grade girls basketball team traveled to Delta on Wednesday night and returned victorious, beating a bigger and stronger Eagles team 31-25 for their 5th win of the season. After a cold start, the Lady Bears went on a scoring run that saw them outscore the home squad 14-7 in the second quarter. Leading the charge for MC was Izzy McGrath with 11 points, 5 blocks and 6 rebounds. Mila Morris dominated the boards, pulling down 9 rebounds to go with 2 steals and 2 assists. Gracie McCreery put up 6 points, that included a momentum swinging 3 pointer in the 2nd quarter that helped turn the game in MC’s favor. Landry Taylor turned in another solid performance, scoring 6 points to go with her 3 steals and 2 assists. The Lady Bears play next at home on January 2nd against the Tri Titans.  Go Bears!
