Daily Announcements 12/15/2023

The girls and boys County Basketball Tournament will be held at Union (Modoc) on January 3rd-6th, 2024. Presale all session tickets are being sold from December 11th-20th in the high school office from 8am-3pm and on January 3rd from 8am-noon. All session tickets cost $15 and can be used all 4 nights of the tournament. Single session tickets purchased at the door will be $7. 

Cadet teachers will still go to the Elementary during finals.

The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards deadline has been extended to midnight on Friday, December 15th. Any student 13 years or older can enter work in a variety of art and writing categories. The Scholastic Awards are a national program focused on giving creative students access to opportunities for recognition, exhibition, publication, and scholarships. Award winners are eligible for scholarships, cash awards, or tuition assistance. Contact Ms. McClung if you have any questions or need help submitting work for the awards.

Senior Shirt Information is posted in Schoology – students can order individually via the link.  The shirts will be delivered to the school and distributed when we return from Christmas break (January 4th).

The Monroe Central FCA is selling FCA T-shirts for $15 each. Everyone is welcome to get a shirt, even your parents, siblings, and grandparents. Order forms will be in the office and are due with money on Friday, December 15. Checks should be made out to Monroe Central High School. If you have questions, talk to KP or a FCA leader.

There will be photos with Santa on December 17th from 1pm – 3pm @ 101 S. Main Street, Parker City. Cost is $20 for a 10 minute slot or you can walk-in. Contact Delk Photography on Facebook or call 765-625-0439. All proceeds go to the MCE Cheerleaders.

On Dec. 18th, Monroe Central FFA will be hosting our chapter Christmas party. The party will start at 4:00 pm. Wear your favorite Christmas sweater! Join in on the cookie decorating contest, and Santa will be there! We can’t wait  to see you all there!

Jostens will be here during lunch on Tuesday, December 19th, to deliver class rings and for any last minute senior orders.

If you are interested in volunteering at the Second Harvest Food Bank on Wednesday, January 24th, there will be a sign-up sheet in the office or you can send Mrs. Greer a Schoology message. Lunch will be provided and it will be a fun day of helping others and giving back to our community! Any student in junior high or high school will be able to sign up to go. It will be on a first come first serve basis, however, if there is a lot of interest we will schedule a second day. 

On Saturday January 13th, from 8AM to 4PM, the Annual IPMG/Special Olympics basketball Invitational will be held at Monroe Central High School. Special Olympics is looking for volunteers in various opportunities such as being a referee, score keeping, runners, clean up, concessions, etc. If you’re interested in volunteering, all day or half day, please see Mrs. Wines in room 144 or send a Schoology to sign up. 

The MCCTA (Mrs. Van Pelt) is selling granola bars, 2 bars for $1.

Girls varsity basketball, Lapel handed Monroe Central their 3rd loss on the season. The Bulldogs defeated the Bears, 46-35 on Thursday night. The Lady Bears are now 9-3 and host Blackford on Monday night for a 7pm start. Sydney Patterson led the scoring column for the Bears with 10 points and 4 rebounds. Kimber Abshear added 9 points to go along with 6 rebounds and 5 blocks on the night.

The Monroe Central 8th Grade Boys Basketball team defeated conference foe Wes-Del Thursday night, 47-39. The Bears had a terrific team effort, as they battled all night to secure the conference victory. The Bears were led in scoring by Luke Morgan with 26 points, while Eli Friend and Peyton Chamness added 6 apiece. Cooper Huston scored 5 points, and Weston Grove added 4. The Bears are back in action on Monday night against Delta on the road.

The 7th grade boys lost to Wes Del 36-30. Bears will be back in action on Monday at Delta. Go Bears!
