Daily Announcements 12/19/2023

The girls and boys County Basketball Tournament will be held at Union (Modoc) on January 3rd-6th, 2024. Presale all session tickets are being sold from December 11th-20th in the high school office from 8am-3pm and on January 3rd from 8am-noon. All session tickets cost $15 and can be used all 4 nights of the tournament. Single session tickets purchased at the door will be $7. 

Cadet teachers will still go to the Elementary during finals.

Jostens will be here during lunch on Tuesday, December 19th, to deliver class rings and for any last minute senior orders.

If you are interested in volunteering at the Second Harvest Food Bank on Wednesday, January 24th, there will be a sign-up sheet in the office or you can send Mrs. Greer a Schoology message. Lunch will be provided and it will be a fun day of helping others and giving back to our community! Any student in junior high or high school will be able to sign up to go. It will be on a first come first serve basis, however, if there is a lot of interest we will schedule a second day. 

On Saturday January 13th, from 8AM to 4PM, the Annual IPMG/Special Olympics basketball Invitational will be held at Monroe Central High School. Special Olympics is looking for volunteers in various opportunities such as being a referee, score keeping, runners, clean up, concessions, etc. If you’re interested in volunteering, all day or half day, please see Mrs. Wines in room 144 or send a Schoology to sign up. 

The MCCTA (Mrs. Van Pelt) is selling granola bars, 2 bars for $1.

Blackford defeated the varsity girls basketball team 52-16 on Monday night. The Bears fall to 9-4 on the season. Sydney Patterson and Addy Puckett combined for 14 of the team’s 16 points on the night. The Lady Bears will play Eastern Hancock at Home on Thursday.

Varsity Wrestling results:  Golden Bears 42 over Bearcats 34

Last night’s dual meet victory was a total team effort. Winners by pin fall were @126 Lane Whitehead, @138 Cory Brown, and @150 Zac Martin the other winners were 106 Maria Oliphant, 144 Caden Shockney, 165 Christian Erwin with a huge decision win, 215 Jaiden Long with a win to start the evening and closing it out and securing the win @190 Jerimiah Ullom was a 1-0 decision winner over his state ranked opponent in the biggest match of the evening. Both Martin and Ullom moved to 10-0 on the season to remain undefeated. A few of your lady Golden Bear Grapplers will be back on mat Wednesday the 20th at Centerville. GO BEARS!

The Monroe Central 8th Grade Boys Basketball team suffered a heartbreaking defeat against a good Delta team Monday night, 46-45. The Bears were led in scoring by Luke Morgan with 29, while Myles Oliphant and Weston Grove each added 5. The Bears return to action Tuesday, January 2nd at conference rival Shenandoah. 

The 7th grade bears lost to a very tough Delta team 43-28. The bears were led in scoring by miles gross with 16, Carter Lucies and Alex Middleton each added 5.
