If anyone is interested in livestock judging Mr. Reed is having a callout today. High schoolers should report to Mr. Reed’s room during B lunch and Middle schoolers should report during A lunch.
The Fine Arts Academic Team will be meeting today after school until 4pm in the art room. If you are interested in joining the Fine Arts Academic Team please attend this meeting – we are in need of more members!
Art Club will be selling Valentine’s bracelets during all lunch periods on Monday, February 13th and Tuesday, February 14th. Bracelets will be $3 and all funds will go towards the Art Club.
Starting on Monday February 6, the teachers’ association will be selling beef sticks before and after school. Mrs. Van Pelt will be outside room 110 each morning selling and in her room (115) after school.
Candy Grams will be for sale during lunch in the cafeteria until Friday. Cost is $2.
Sweethearts Dance will be held on February 11th from 8-11pm. All grades 7-12 are welcome, cost is $8 for a single or $15 a couple – tickets for sale at the door. If you are bringing a student from another school, please have the dance request form returned by Friday. Picture order forms are in the office.
Attention Seniors who are participating in any clubs/sports your senior year: Senior night will be on Tuesday, February 21, between the JV and varsity boys basketball games against Union City. Please stop by the office and pick up a senior night form. Forms need to be turned in to Mrs. Murray by Friday, February 10.
The Randolph County Amateur Radio Club is working to establish Radio Clubs in each of the five county schools. Club members will work towards getting their amateur radio licenses from the FCC with an ultimate goal of being able to create a station to communicate directly with astronauts on the International Space Station. Sounds like a cool opportunity for those who may have an interest in radio communication. If you are interested in learning more about this club, you are asked to come to the office to sign up and to pick up a flier. They are hoping to start club activities in March.
Attention Current Juniors interested in doing an internship next year: Randolph County United has posted all of the internships available to Randolph County students next year. Among those internships are the following Monroe Central internships: Office Assistant, Athletic Department Intern, Ag Greenhouse Intern, SE Assistant, Pre-School Assistant, Mechanic Intern, and Technology Intern. If you are interested in any of these positions or other Randolph County internships, please apply at www.rcuinternshipportal.com. The application deadline is February 20, 2023.
On Saturday February 11th, from 8AM to 4PM, the Annual IPMG/Special Olympics basketball Invitational will be held at Monroe Central High School. Special Olympics is looking for volunteers in various opportunities such as being a referee, score keeping, runners, clean up, concessions, etc. If you’re interested in volunteering, all day or half day, please see Mrs. Wines in Room 144 to sign up.
Monroe Central’s C-Team finished their season at 5-3 with 62-42 home win over rival Winchester. Three Bears scored in double figures led by Griffin Gannom’s 22 points. Kyler Bogue had a season high 16 and Justice Davis had 10 points. Jackson Konkle and Julius Ullom rounded out the scoring with 8 points and 6 points respectively. Julius Ullom once again did a nice job controlling the boards with Dylan Summers and Max Wagner being credited with several nice passes and playing good defense.
