Congratulations to Doug Lankford on qualifying as an individual and the Jr High Team on qualifying for the NASP State Tournament for 2023. They will be competing on March 11th in Indianapolis!!

Art Club will be selling Valentine’s bracelets today during all lunch periods. Bracelets will be $3 and all funds will go towards the Art Club.

JH Track & Field practices will begin on March 13th. They will meet in the cafeteria.

Bear Necessities is a student-run group created to help those in need within the Monroe Central community. Our group will be running the Concessions during the boys’ basketball game on Tuesday, Feb. 14th. Donations equal free popcorn! We accept cash and hygiene-product donations. Donations may also be dropped off daily in the HS Main Office…for gratitude, not popcorn.

Attention FFA Members – There will be a chapter meeting today after school in Mr. Weiler’s room. Those who attend will be treated to walking tacos.

The Journey Home is looking for student volunteers! Please pick up an information sheet in the office.

The teachers’ association is selling beef sticks before and after school. Mrs. Van Pelt will be outside room 110 each morning selling and in her room (115) after school.

Attention Seniors who are participating in any clubs/sports your senior year: Senior night will be on Tuesday, February 21, between the JV and varsity boys basketball games against Union City. Senior forms are now due. If you haven’t turned one in please see Mrs. Murray today!

Attention Current Juniors interested in doing an internship next year: Randolph County United has posted all of the internships available to Randolph County students next year. Among those internships are the following Monroe Central internships: Office Assistant, Athletic Department Intern, Ag Greenhouse Intern, SE Assistant, Pre-School Assistant, Mechanic Intern, and Technology Intern. If you are interested in any of these positions or other Randolph County internships, please apply at www.rcuinternshipportal.com. The application deadline is February 20, 2023.

The Bears traveled to cross county and conference rival Wapahani Friday night. The Bears lost 66 to 40. The Bears came out and held their own in the first quarter only being down 8. In the 2nd quarter the Bears committed too many turnovers and Wapahani capitalized by outscoring the Bears by 14 in the quarter. In the second half the bears slowed the game down and played a lot better and only committed 3 turnovers. The Bears were led in scoring by Easton Foster with 16 points and 8 rebounds followed by Alden Mahaffey with 14. Cole Munchel added 7 rebounds. The Bears fall to 7-13 on the year. Next game is at home on Tuesday against Frankton. The JV Bears lost to the Raiders 60-30. The Bears played hard but just couldn’t find the range from the 3 point area. The Bears were led in scoring by Jackson Konkle with 11 points. Griffin Gannom added 9 points.

Monroe Central finishes in 24th place in the team race at Ft Wayne Semi-State. Hunter “Turn the” Page finished in 3rd place, becoming the 1st ever 3 time State Qualifier in program History. Competes this Friday evening in the IHSAA finals at gainbridge fieldhouse.

Monroe Central Jr High and High School Archers competed Saturday in a 4 way meet at Northeastern. We would like to congratulate Noah Moery he tied for the Top Overall Male, tied for Top Jr High Male and Top 12 all Tournament Team. Doug Lankford tied for Top High School Male and Top 12 all Tournament Team and the Jr High Team finished in 2nd place!!
