There will be a meeting for all football players in grades 8,9,10 and 11 this Friday, March 3rd, during B lunch in Hall Gym. The meeting will provide details and instructions for the 11th annual BSN football weight meet held here at Monroe Central.
The Randolph County Amateur Radio Club is still wishing to create a student radio club here at Monroe Central. Mr. Retherford posted a flier with more information in Schoology. If you are interested in learning more about this, please sign up on the sheet in the office or send a Schoology message to Mr. Retherford.
Current Juniors/Class of 2024 – The Randolph County Youth Leadership Council is hosting the 39th Annual Randolph County Youth Salute. This initiative recognizes students who have shown leadership skills and/or scholastic achievement. There is also the potential of receiving scholarships. To qualify for the Leadership Salute, you must have served in a position of leadership in school, church or other community organization within the last three years.
To qualify for the Scholastic Achievement Citation, you must have met the criteria for the Leadership salute PLUS be in the top ten percent (10%) in your class scholastically.
Nomination forms are available in Student Services and must be submitted to Student Services by March 16th, 2023.
The Jay County Civic Theatre will be holding open auditions for their production of Disney’s “Descendants” the musical on March 13 and 14. Please pick up a flier in the office for more information.
JH Track & Field practices will begin on March 13th. They will meet in the cafeteria.
The teachers’ association is selling beef sticks before and after school. Mrs. Van Pelt will be outside room 110 each morning selling and in her room (115) after school.
Last Saturday our FFA milk quality and products team competed at Purdue University in the state contest. They had to identify milks, cheeses, problems and give food-borne bacteria quality control points. They placed in the top ten at the state level! Congratulations to Addison Coe, Maggie Haney, Aubrey Johnson, Leire (Rue) Jaureguibetia & Clay Smith. They even dressed up as Napoleon Dynamite, if you have seen this movie, you may know that it had a scene where he competed in this same FFA milk quality contest! Congratulations to all!
The boys JV Bears came out and took an 8 point lead at the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter the Bears outscored the Rebels by 8 again to lead 31-15 at the half. The Bears took control of the game in the 3rd by outscoring the Rebels 22-6 to lead 53-21 at the end of the 3rd. The Bears went on to win 65-23. The Bears were led in scoring by Griffin Gannom with 21 points on 5-8 shooting from 3 point range. Justus Ullom added 10 points while Jackson Konkle and Justus Davis both added 8 points apiece. Jackson Konkle had a career high 9 assists in the win. The Bears ended the season 9-10.
The varsity boys basketball team went down to Randolph Southern Friday night and spoiled Randolph Southern’s senior night and beat them 59-44. After the first quarter the Bears led 16-9. By halftime the Bears stretched the lead to 31-20. In the 3rd quarter the Bears stretched the lead to 12 on two occasions. In the middle of the third quarter the Rebels closed the gap to 6 but Blake Bogue hit 3 consecutive 3 pointers to push the lead back up to 13 points to start the 4th quarter. In the 4th the Rebels never got closer than 8 points. The Bears hit some clutch free throws down the stretch to seal the win. The Bears had the most balanced scoring team wise of the year. Josiah Cleveland and Cole Munchel led the way with 12 points apiece. Blake Bogue added 11 points and Easton Foster added 10 points. Alden Mahaffey had 9 points and 10 rebounds. Hayden Taylor rounded out the scoring with 5 points for the Bears. Cole Munchel also added 10 rebounds. The Bears finished the season 10-14 and kept the horseshoe for another season. The Bears start sectional play Wednesday at 7:30 against Wapahani.
