Juniors, we have one last test for this school year. Monroe Central will be hosting the ASVAB on Tuesday, March 9th. This test is another way to fulfill part of the Graduation Pathway. The ASVAB has a wonderful career exploration component shared with students when we receive the score reports. This will help students unsure of what they want to do after graduation to explore different interests. The ASVAB is only on Tuesday, March 9th. There is no make-up date. If you go to the MACC, Winchester, or Union City, they are aware that you will miss AM classes for the ASVAB. Please report to the cafeteria at 7:50 AM on Tuesday, March 9th. Thanks! Mrs. Taylor
Hello everyone! For those of you who don´t know me, I´m Miss Hughes and I´m Mrs. Moran´s intern in the School Counseling office. For the next 5-6 weeks, I will be starting a girls group called ¨Women´s Empowerment¨ once a week for 30 minutes during one study hall period. This group is going to talk about self-esteem/confidence, body image, healthy friendships, social media, positive self-thoughts, and more! This is open to all the young women at our school so if you´re interested in growing in any of these areas by yourself or with friends, message me on Schoology (Emma Hughes) and I will get you signed up! Please reach out to me or stop by the counseling office if you have any questions or are interested in this group by this Friday, March 5th. Thank you!!
PENNY WARS: Next week, March 8th-March 12th, we will be having a grade level Penny Wars Competition. Pay close attention to the rules: All pennies will count as positive points toward your grade level score. You can also donate silver coins and bills to OTHER grade levels in order to subtract points from their total. The face value of the money is how much will be deducted (Example: a quarter donated would deduct 25 points from that grade levels’ score). The grade level that has the most points at the end of the week will receive ice cream sandwiches at lunch and bragging rights! All proceeds will go toward the MCHS Military Wall.
There will be a Pajama Day on Wednesday March 10th. Turn in your $1 to your first period teacher to wear pajamas all day! All proceeds will be donated to the MCHS Military Wall.
The University of Northwestern Ohio will be offering Virtual Preview Days on April 7-11, 2021 and April 12-18, 2021. Spotlights on available majors, hear from instructors, current students, and graduates. Experience a virtual tour of campus. High School Juniors can apply for free! For more information, see the posters on the main bulletin board by the cafeteria hallway or in Student Services.
Anyone interested in participating in Jr. High Track this season should join the Schoology group named “Jr. High Track” or contact Coach Kristen Maurer or Coach Veatch for help. Practices will start March 15 at 4:30.
Reminders:
Masks need to be worn at all times covering both your mouth and your nose except for when eating or drinking. By doing so, contact tracing becomes more minimized.
Hats and hoods should not be worn anywhere in the building. Hats should be left in lockers during the school day.
As we approach warmer weather, it’s important that students revisit the dress code in the student handbook to make sure that they dress appropriately for school.
Teachers have been directed to refer violators to administration for possible disciplinary consequences.
