Daily Announcements 3/17/2021
FFA Members, there will be a Chapter Meeting after school on Thursday, April 1st. We would love to see you there!
The week of March 8th was an incredible week for the Monroe Central FFA!
On Wednesday, we had 4 students compete at the District 9 Convention and leadership development events. They included Clay Smith who won first in Freshman Creed Speaking, Hadley Hendrickson who placed second in Discovery Prepared Public Speaking. Shyann Bennett who placed third in Discovery Extemporaneous Speaking, and also Gracie Lee who placed 5th in the Job Interview contest.
We also had a few teams compete on Saturday including Madalyn Friend and Kristin Northcutt placed 3rd with their Food Science Demo. Catherine Duncan and Jacie Tinsman placed first with their Horticulture Demo. Max Wagner and Camryn Friend placed second with their Discovery Food Science Demo. Ryan Calhoun and Alex Anderson placed first with their Agriculture Mechanics Demo. Julia Smith had 7th place in the Animal Science Demo. Lane Dance and Elijah Cleveland placed third with their Discovery Natural Resources Demo.
As well as all the in person events, we had a few virtual events that placed as well. Ella Swallow competed in the Essay and placed 4th. Our Discovery Quiz bowl team of Max, Camryn, Shyan, and Addi Grove placed 3rd and our Senior quiz bowl team of Julia, Lane Franklin, Gabe Goodspeed, and Brayden Swift did a great job as well! The chapter entry placed first in the Multimedia Scrapbook!
All of the first places will compete at the State Convention in June at Purdue. We wish the best of luck to them and are so proud of everyone who competed!!
After school help this week will be Tuesday and WEDNESDAY due to spring break.

Attention Girls Basketball Players – On Wednesday, March 17, girls who plan to play basketball during the 2021-2022 season are asked to attend a brief meeting at the beginning of 4th period. The meeting will be held in the Main Gym, and all girls basketball players grades 7-11 are asked to attend. We will be discussing our upcoming off-season workouts, sharing information about fundraisers, and more.

Everyone needs a cap and gown.

SENIOR GRADUATION SLIDESHOW
Please submit a baby picture and senior picture to kylep@monroecentral.org for the graduation slideshow. If you need pictures scanned, bring them to Mrs. Shumaker. I will scan them, send them to KP and return them to you. Be sure to include first and last name the way you want it to appear. (3/18)
Sophomores and Juniors – The University of Findlay College of Pharmacy is pleased to let you know about their 14th annual Pharmacy Summer Camp. This year, they will be providing two different dates to choose from – June 20-23 or July 25-28, 2021. This overnight camp is open to any high school student who will be a junior or senior in the Fall of 2021. For more information, please see Mrs. Swift in Student Services. (3/18)
Monroe Central National Honor Society will be hosting a Blood Drive on Tuesday, April 13th. Students can sign up in Student Services. Students that are 16 years old will need to complete the parent permission form and return it to Student Services before signing up. If you are 17 years old and older, you can sign up!
Reminders:
- Masks need to be worn at all times covering both your mouth and your nose except for when eating or drinking. By doing so, contact tracing becomes more minimized.
- Hats and hoods should not be worn anywhere in the building. Hats should be left in lockers during the school day.
- As we approach warmer weather, it’s important that students revisit the dress code in the student handbook to make sure that they dress appropriately for school.
Teachers have been directed to refer violators to administration for possible disciplinary consequences.
