Daily Announcements 3/31/2021

Tutoring This Week – Since we will not be in school this Friday, we are moving Thursday night’s tutoring to tonight.  Ms. G. will be in charge of tutoring tonight and there will be no tutoring tomorrow night.

 

We still have spots for the Blood Drive on Tuesday, April 13th; please sign up in Student Services. Also, it is Gold Day and the SAT School Day, junior testing sign up for an appointment after 12 PM. If you are 16 years old, you need parent permission, forms in Student Services. If 17 years old or older, you can sign up without a permission form. 

 

All Students: We plan to allow students to pick new seats during all lunches on Wednesday and Thursday. Please plan to sit in the seat you would like to have for the remainder of the school year when you come to lunch today. Please remember that due to CoVid regulations, you can still only sit 4 to a table in the cafeteria and 2 or 4 to a table in the balconies depending on the row. Lunch supervisors will again have a seating chart for you to fill out once you are seated.

 

Attention All Students:  Masque & Gavel still has a few roles available for our Spring Show, “Anne of Green Gables” for anyone interested.  They are all relatively small roles, so they may be the perfect roles to experiment with theatre.  If you are interested, please send a Schoology message to Mr. Retherford.

 

JAG will be holding a “Callout” meeting on Monday, 4/5/21 during 4th period study hall. All 10th and 11th grade students will be called down to the main gym to attend the “callout” meeting. Teachers are asked to accompany your study hall class in the main gym for the callout meeting.

 

Both Junior High and High School Bookclubs will have a short meeting today in the library. We will meet during Study Hall @ 10:00am. We will be finalizing our shirt design. 

 

Attention Football Players – There will be a football meeting to distribute awards from the weight meet and finalize summer plans in the gym at the beginning of 4th period Wednesday. Go Bears!

 

Juniors: All youth salute forms are due to Student Services by the end of the day TODAY, March 31st. 

 

All future high school cheerleaders, powermen and mascots grades 8-11 may pick up signup forms in the office.  All paperwork must be turned into the office by Thursday, April 1st.  

 

Seniors: Reminder to check the Senior Schoology Group regularly.  A lot of upcoming senior information is being posted.  The Local Scholarship Applications are due April 1st. This one application applies to many different scholarships!  You don’t want to miss out on scholarship opportunities!  See Mrs. Swift in Student Services with any scholarship questions.

 

Students looking for some community service? Looks great on college application and scholarships—also, a wonderful way to help out our own community. Please sign up in Student Services for Neighbors Helping Neighbors – Saturday, April 10th at 9 AM – Methodist Church in Parker City – 305 S Main Street. The main service will be helping clean some yards of Parker City residents. 

 

Do you like to create art? The Art Association of Randolph County will be having its annual high school art competition. This art show is open to all high school students, whether they are in art class or not. Judging will take place here at Monroe Central from April 26-30. Please contact Mrs. Smiley for more information.

 

FFA Members, there will be a Chapter Meeting after school on Thursday, April 1st. We would love to see you there!

 

Purdue Polytechnic Anderson is hosting a Robotics Night from 3:30 to 7:00pm on Thursday April 8th. Students will be able to tour our facility, see faculty and student run demonstrations, learn about our degree offerings, and watch some of our area high school VEX Robotics teams scrimmage against each other. High School Students:  The Wayne County Virtual College Fair on Monday, April 12 at 6pm via Zoom. The four Wayne County, Indiana colleges (IU East, Ivy Tech, Earlham College, and Purdue Polytechnic Richmond) will be participating.  It is a collaborative effort to discuss local/regional college options for students interested in educational opportunities in Wayne County. Congratulations to Ryan Calhoun who placed in the gold ranking group with his FFA Ag Mechanics Repair SAE Proficiency by way of round 1 of state judging which took place last week. His application will now move on to round 2 of state judging in mid April. Good luck to Ryan!

 

Reminders:

  1. Masks need to be worn at all times covering both your mouth and your nose except for when eating or drinking.  By doing so, contact tracing becomes more minimized.
  2. Hats and hoods should not be worn anywhere in the building.  Hats should be left in lockers during the school day.
  3. As we approach warmer weather, it’s important that students revisit the dress code in the student handbook to make sure that they dress appropriately for school.

Teachers have been directed to refer violators to administration for possible disciplinary consequences.
