Seniors – Jostens will be here on Thursday to deliver cap, gowns, etc. The remaining payment must be made in cash as Jostens does not accept checks or credit cards.
Masque and Gavel will perform “Just Another High School Play” on Friday, April 14th at 6pm and also on Saturday, April 15th at 2pm and 6pm. Cost of admission is $6 for adults and $3 for students/children.
Monroe Central Elementary and the Jr.-Sr. High School are competing in Penny Wars for Water. Mr. Swallow and the 4th grade class at MCE, as a class project, are raising money to help areas of the world who do not have safe and clean drinking water sources. Grade levels across the district will compete for who can earn the most money through their donations. Coins will earn positive points, while paper money will earn negative points. So, you want to donate coins in your grade level can and paper money into other grade level cans. The winning grade level will receive a pizza party for the whole grade level. Staff members will be allowed to wear sweats or jeans during the contest as well for $2.00 per day. Look for Mr. Swallow to share more information on how the contest will work along with updates in Schoology. The contest will run from April 10th to April 21st. Let’s help the 4th grade raise a bunch of money for their class project.
Class of 2026 – There will be a meeting for any current freshmen interested in being a peer mentor next year on Thursday (April 13th) During B lunch in Hall Gym.
Seniors: Please check your Schoology Class of 2023 group for current senior information. This will include your Graduation Speaker Google Form, Senior Superlatives as well as the Senior book pages with a wallet sized senior photo. The due dates for each are as follows:
- Friday, April 14th–Senior book pages due w/ wallet size senior picture
- Friday, April 14th–All photos for the Senior Slideshow (Graduation) are due to KP. You may submit them to him via his school email : kylep@monroecentral.org ; OR bring photos in to Becky & Brook. They will see that he gets the photos for the slideshow.

The teachers’ association is selling beef sticks before and after school. Mrs. Van Pelt will be outside room 110 each morning selling and in her room (115) after school.
The Academic Team had another great night here at home Tuesday night. Elijah Taylor placed third in the Science Round. The Math team of Elijah Taylor, Noah Bootcheck, and Julia Smith placed first over all. And, the Interdisciplinary Team placed second. Our next meet is the Regionals competition at Richmond High School next Tuesday, April 18.
The Monroe Central Jr High Track teams started their season out with a bang. The Girls team topped Selma with a score of 77-23 while the Boys dominated with a score of 93-7. Top performers for the Boys were Corbin Lester in the 110 M hurdles, Beau Edmonds in the 100 and 400 M Dashes, Jackson Wines in the 1600 and 800 M Run, Luke Morgan in the 200 M Dash, Carson Seikman in the High Jump, Caden Dance in the Long Jump, Dylan Painter in the Shot Put, and Kaden Sullivan in the discus. The MC 4×1 and 4×4 relay teams also earned first place finishes. MC Boys placed 1st in every event at the meet. The Girls were lead by Jacee Lounsbury in the 100 M Hurdles, Brylie Tinsman in the 1600 and 800 M Runs, Cora Wagner in the 400 M Dash, and Karma Armor in the High Jump, Long Jump, and Shot put. The relay teams came in 1st place in both the 4×1 and 4×4 events. The teams will run next on Thursday at Blackford.
The Varsity Softball Bears lost to a very tough Eastern Hancock softball team Tuesday night 16-3. The team made some great adjustments throughout the game. Makaylah Brainerd went 2-2 with a triple, single, and an RBI. Aubrey Johnson, Whitley Martin, and Jayme Brannan each added a hit. Kinlee Taylor made some adjustments throughout the game while accumulating 4 strikeouts. The Bears are back in action at Yorktown at 5p on Friday and at home on Saturday for two games against Hamilton Heights and Eastbrook starting at 9a.
Monroe Central Varsity Baseball lost a tough one to Eastern Hancock, 13-9. The bats were out for both teams as EH had 13 hits and MC hit two HR’s. Boys will bounce back against Blue River at Blue River on Thursday. Offensive Statistics: Blake Bogue 2-5 2Rbi 3R 1 HR 1SB, Levi Pence 1-4 1HR 1Rbi, Cole Luedike 2SB, Lane Wilson 2-4 2Rbi.
