Daily Announcements 4/26/2023

The MC FFA will be hosting their April Chapter Meeting tonight at 5:30 pm in Mr. Reeds’ room. They will be discussing the upcoming banquet and committees to join.  There will be refreshments served!

The Monroe Central High School Art Club is hosting a Cookies & Canvas fundraising event on Tuesday, May 9th from 6-8pm in the high school art room. Tickets are $20 and include a canvas, materials, painting lesson, and refreshments. Spots are limited! Please contact Ms. Lillian McClung via email or phone to reserve your spot. 

Juniors and Seniors, prom 2023’s theme is “A Night on Cloud 9.” Prom Bids are on sale during A lunch until May 12th. A single ticket is $20, and a couple is $40.

Seniors: The cookout traditionally follows your graduation rehearsal and is held under the concession stand pavilion. We will have prize giveaways for those who attend. Please go to your “Seniors 2023” Schoology group page & fill out the cookout survey by May 3rd.  (Your graduation rehearsal & cookout will be Friday, June 2nd.)  Thank you! 

The teachers’ association is selling beef sticks before and after school. Mrs. Van Pelt will be outside room 110 each morning selling and in her room (115) after school.

The Golden Bear Track teams hosted Winchester and Tri for a triangular meet Tuesday night. Great efforts were made all around as championship season looms next week!  Boys Team Scores: MC-63 Tri-42 Win-39.  Girls Team Scores: Win-69 MC-55 Tri-31.  Event Winners for the Boys:  Luke Jones – 100m, Zac Martin – 200m, Caden Landis – 400m, Eli Chamberlain – 800m, Cole Munchel – Discus and Shot Put (NEW SCHOOL RECORD! 50′ 7″), Alden Mahaffey – Long Jump, Easton Foster – High Jump, 4x100m Relay Team (Case, Hunt, Martin, Jones), 4x400m Relay Team (Chamberlain, Bootcheck, Wagner, Landis).  Event Winners for the Girls:  Audrey Keeley – 100m, Ava Phelps – 400m, Karly Puckett – 800m, Addison Coe – 1600m, 4x800m Relay Team (Osborne, A.Puckett, Thomas, K.Puckett).  Both Girls and Boys teams run this Friday night at the South Adams Invitational.

On Tuesday, the Bears golf team traveled to Richmond to play a 3-way match against Richmond and New Castle. The Bears came up short shooting a team score of 202. New Castle shot a 199 and Richmond won the match with a 185. The Bears were led by Cohen West who shot a 49. Followed by Bentley Thornburg with a 50, Coltan West and Trystyn Thornburg both with a 52, and Hayden Taylor with a 53. The Bears travel to Winchester on Saturday for the Winchester Invitational. 

Monroe Central baseball came out on the short end of another nail biter 4-3, this time against Cowan. Cole Luedike had a masterful performance on the mound and at the plate. MC continues to improve and looks to get back in the win column Thursday against Wes-Del.  Standouts:

The Bears softball team lost 17-2 against Cowan Tuesday. Aubrey Johnson, Whitley Martin, and Tessa Chesher each had a hit. The Bears host the Delta Eagles on Wednesday with a 5p start
